Xinpu Street

Xinpu street, under the jurisdiction of Haizhou District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as Pudong street. On the morning of September 29, 2014, the unveiling ceremony of Xinpu street was held ceremoniously. Pudong street was officially renamed Xinpu street. Xinpu street has 15 neighborhood committees with a total population of 62543 (in 2010), covering an area of 16.64 square kilometers.

adjustment

On July 8, 2014, some administrative divisions of Lianyungang City were adjusted, and Centennial Xinpu entered history with the adjustment of administrative divisions. After the implementation of the zoning adjustment, many people believe that the historical and cultural essence contained in the name of "Xinpu" is the precious wealth of the port city, and the development history of more than 200 years should be respected and remembered. Soon after the zoning adjustment, the voice of retaining the place name of "Xinpu" in other ways in the major forums of the port and city came one after another, and the netizens' initiative got the attention of the Haizhou District Party committee and the district government. At the end of July, Haizhou District plans to choose a street within its jurisdiction to be renamed "Xinpu Street". Pudong street and Lunan street, which have the highest voice, will launch PK in lianwang, Lianyungang newspaper media wechat and our newspaper wechat by way of public voting.

history

Xinpu got its name in the third year of Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. After its formation in Banpu and bianjiapu, it was named Xinpu. It is understood that both Pudong street and Lunan street were established in 1960. Pudong Street represents the profound cultural and historical deposits of Xinpu, while Lunan Street witnesses the prosperity of Xinpu. Pudong street gets its name because it is located in the east of the original Xinpu district. It is the former residence of municipal and district governments. It is also the main old city and the political, economic, cultural and business center of the original Xinpu district. There are not only the democratic road with the style of the Republic of China, but also the old department store, the old railway station, the old bus station and other landmark buildings, which symbolize the prosperity of business in old Xinpu. Considering the area, population, business type and development prospect, Haizhou District Party committee and government decided to change the original Pudong Street into Xinpu street after careful investigation and demonstration, so as to continue the memory of old Xinpu and inherit the endless blood of old Xinpu. After the name change, the jurisdiction scope and resident of the street will remain unchanged, and the subordinate relationship of the communities under its jurisdiction will remain unchanged.
