Caogang township is located in the southeast of Fengqiu County, its center is about 34 ° 57 ′ N and 114 ° 93 ′ E. It is adjacent to Huangling Township and Lizhuang Township in the East, the Yellow River in the south, Chenqiao Township in the west, and Lugang Township, Pandian Township and Youfang Township in the northwest, due north and northeast. Caogang township is 76 km west to Xinxiang City, 26 km south to Kaifeng City, the ancient capital of the seven dynasties, and 100 km away from Zhengzhou, the provincial capital. The total area is 59 square kilometers.
