Liu Hai Temple

It is located 3.5km southwest of the town government. According to the records of Laiyang county annals, Liuhai temple was built in memory of Liu haichan, a Taoist of Liao Dynasty. In 1950, Professor Yang Zhongjian of the society of vertebrate paleontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and teachers and students of the Department of geology of Shandong University discovered a large number of paleobiota and bag shaped dinosaur spots around the urban area of Laiyang, and published the data as a monograph "dinosaur fossils of Laiyang, Shandong Province", which caused a sensation in the world's paleontological circles. In 1952, experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences excavated a complete dinosaur skeleton in the red soil ditch scoured by the mountains and waters in the northwest of jingangkou village, which was named "Qingdao spinosaur" by experts. From October 16 to 22, 1984, the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences organized 160 experts from 26 provinces and autonomous regions of China to hold an academic seminar in Laiyang, published 35 academic papers, and set up a professional committee of Vertebrate Paleontology in China.
