Xiangshan Town, subordinate to Chongren County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Chongren county. It borders Yihuang and Le'an in the East, West and south, Taoyuan in the north and Lipi town in the northeast. Xiangshan town government is 26 kilometers away from the county, s433 provincial road connects the north and the south, Fuji Expressway passes through, and there is an exit in Lintou village, 64.8 kilometers away from Fuzhou City. It covers an area of 261 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, Xiangshan town has 11 administrative villages and 1 community with a total population of 26000.

Xiangshan got its name in the Shaoxing period of Song Dynasty (1131-1162), and was renamed Xiangshan because of avoiding luanba's taboo. In 1985, Xiangshan began to build a town.

Historical evolution

Xiangshan town was called Chongren Township in ancient times. In 589, it merged Xinjian, Xining, Bashan and other counties to establish Chongren county.

During the reign of Shaoxing in Song Dynasty (1131-1162), sun Mao, the county magistrate, changed his name from luanba to Xiangshan.

In 1950, Xiangshan was under the jurisdiction of Le'an county.

In 1958, Fenggang commune was established.

In 1983, it was renamed Xiangshan commune.

In 1984, Xiangshan commune was transformed into a township.

Xiangshan

Xiangshan is a big mountain in the south of Chongren county. It was called Bashan in ancient times. It is located 10 kilometers west of Xiangshan Town, covering an area of 35 square kilometers. Its main peak is 1219.2 meters high. It is the highest peak in Chongren county. It is known as a famous mountain in East Jiangxi. Xiangshan scenic spots and historic sites mainly include Xindian, Laodian, Mengshan temple, Yinzhen temple, Tudi temple, Lingbao temple, Guangjiao temple, Jixian temple, Heshi, Zuxian altar, Xianying temple, Sixian temple, Baoan Temple, etc.

Wuzhang ancient village

Wuzhang ancient village is located in Xiangshan town. There are 60 ancestral halls in Wuzhang ancient village. Only seven ancestral halls are reserved, including Gonggong ancestral hall, Weixiang ancestral hall, Chen ancestral hall, anggong ancestral hall, Ximing ancestral hall, Mingjing ancestral hall and Zhouxing ancestral hall.
