Yuandu town is a town under the jurisdiction of Fengcheng City, Jiangxi Province. Located in the northeast edge of Fengcheng City, on the Bank of Fuhe River, it is located at the junction of three prefectures (Nanchang, Linchuan, Yichun) and four counties (Nanchang, Jinxian, Linchuan, Fengcheng). With a total area of 102.36 square kilometers, Yuandu town now has 18 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee and 226 village groups, with a permanent resident population of 42940 (2017).

Historical evolution

In the middle of the Yuan Dynasty, the yuan family moved in and formed a market town in the early Qing Dynasty. The north and south sides of the Strait communicated by ferry, so it was called Yuan Du. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Jiangang township of Linchuan county and Yuandu township of Fengcheng county. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Qingzhou, Yuandu and quantian townships. In 1958, it belonged to Yuandu and Jiangang communes. In 1961, it was separated from Yuandu commune into Fuling commune. In 1963, Jiangang commune was designated as Fengcheng by Linchuan county. In 1968, Fuling and Jiangang communes were merged into Yuandu commune. In 1984, it was changed into Yuandu Township, and in 1995, it was withdrawn from township to town. In 1997, it covers an area of 88 square kilometers and has a population of 44000. It has jurisdiction over Yuandu neighborhood committee and 18 administrative villages including Helong, Qingwei, Xinhu, Yanshang, Shanhu, tangsheng, Pengwang, tufang, Xinhua, Wangzhou, Yuanfang, Tuanjie, quantian, Hetang, Fuling, Taiping, Niujia and leixu. In production, the first is to guide farmers to promote new technologies and new varieties.
