Zhi Jiao San Church

Zhijiao three church, also known as Zezhou three church and Lizhai three church, is located in Lizhai scenic spot in the east of Zhijiao village, Lizhai Township, Zezhou County, Shanxi Province. It is now a municipal cultural relics protection unit.

brief introduction

A textual research on the existing five stone inscriptions of Zhijiao three churches shows that the three churches were built in the 15th year of Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, and were built repeatedly in the periods of Kangxi, Qianlong and Daoguang of Qing Dynasty. Sana'a traffic sit north to south, one into the courtyard, the central axis has a dance building, Xian Pavilion, three Temple, two chamber built with six. The hall is 8 or 8 meters wide with three rooms, 5 or 2 meters deep with four rafters, 1 or 3 meters of ancient platform, and 65 square meters of building area. Hall top single rafters Xie Shan style, five step double Qiao double ang shaped arch. The base of the column is stacked. The sparrow is ornate and carved as peony, dragon and Phoenix. The upper and lower floors of the dance hall are three rooms wide. The upper floor is for performances. The dance hall is divided into front and back floors. The Dougong is distributed on the column head, the patching room, the colorful double bottom and the single rafter resting on the top of the mountain. The inscriptions on the types of performances, troupes and actors on stage are important historical materials for the study of Shangdang drama. The whole church is neat in shape and large in scale.

The three churches were established to worship the founders of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Now it is a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.

What to watch

Zhijiao three church, known by ancient architecture experts as China's ancient wood carving art boutique, temple for a courtyard, 68 houses. On the central axis, there are dancing building, offering Pavilion and Sansheng hall. On both sides, there are wing room, watchtower and accessory hall. The gate of the temple opens to the East. The layout of the temple is reasonable and the structure is rigorous. In ancient times, it was called the largest temple at the South Gate of Jincheng.

The statue in the main hall is Sakyamuni in the middle, and on both sides are Laojun and Confucius. The three churches integrate three different sects of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Some people jokingly call it "co office", while others call it "United Front". They are full of wit and philosophy.

As the saying goes, the gate of the world's temple opens to the south, but the gate of the three churches opens to the East. Why does the gate of the three churches open to the east. But it doesn't matter. When you go to visit and listen to the commentator's introduction, you will solve the mystery.
