Jinping Ethnic Township

Jinping ethnic township is under the jurisdiction of Xiajiang County, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the south of Xiajiang county. National Highway 105 passes through it. It is 160km away from Nanchang City, 60km away from Ji'an City, and 10km away from the county seat. It covers an area of 10.56 square kilometers, with five administrative villages and 3188 permanent residents (2017).

In November 2017, Jinping ethnic township was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.

Regional overview

Jinping ethnic township is the only multi-ethnic Township in Jiangxi Province, with eight ethnic minorities including Jing, Dong, Dai, Yao, Zhuang, Miao, Yi and she, with a permanent resident population of 3188 (in 2017), which has been listed in the 12th Five Year Plan of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission to support the development of ethnic minorities with small population. With the theme of "two commonalities" and the goal of "two attainments" put forward by the provincial Party committee, eight ethnic groups compose a song of unity and progress and play the theme of harmony together.

Jinping Ethnic Township, formerly known as Jiangxi state-owned Jinping overseas Chinese farm, was established in December 1957 as an agricultural reclamation enterprise. In 1979, it was renamed as Jiangxi state-owned Jinping overseas Chinese farm for receiving and resettling Indo Chinese refugees. In December 1999, it was transferred to Xiajiang County for management. In November 2007, it was approved by the provincial government as Jinping Jing ethnic township. In June 2008, the State Commission for democracy and people's livelihood proposed to change its name to Jinping ethnic township.

Jinping ethnic township has not only convenient transportation, but also beautiful environment and pleasant climate. The forest coverage rate of the township is more than 80%, the annual average temperature is about 17 ℃, the trees are lush all the year round, the air is fresh, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant. In the reservoir area of Yishan reservoir, the water surface is rippling, the water under the dam is gurgling, and the fields are crisscrossing all around, showing a beautiful idyllic scenery, which is an ideal choice for businesses to invest and develop.

The township covers an area of 10.56 square kilometers, with five administrative villages, including Nanxia, Yishan, Chaoyang, Jinping and Xinmin, and 19 village groups. The area of paddy field is 2098 mu, orchard 4375 mu (2760 mu for oranges, 911.4 mu for chestnuts and 703.6 mu for others), mountain forest 12579.8 Mu and water surface 210 mu. The resident population was 3188 (2017).

Economic situation

About 80% of the population in the township mainly contract to grow grain and fruit. Citrus, chestnut and Cuiguan pear are the gold lettered signboards of Jinping ethnic township for many years. The orange peel is thin, the juice is sweet, the chestnut is big, and the Cuiguan pear is good in shape, full in water, and tastes good. It has won the gold award of "Fuwei Cup" fruit appraisal in Jiangxi Province. Fresh fruits with high quality and low price are exported to the surrounding provinces and cities, and have always been the pillar industry for farmers to start businesses and increase their income. In recent years, it has vigorously developed high-efficiency agriculture such as seedlings, flowers and tobacco leaves, realizing diversified agricultural operation and farmers' income generation through multiple channels. In 2007, the gross output value of the township was 42.59 million yuan, the fiscal revenue was 620000 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 2450 yuan.

At the same time of economic development, the township attaches great importance to the construction of social undertakings and has made great efforts to improve the living conditions of the masses. The first is to improve the living environment through the implementation of the renovation of dangerous buildings, street beautification and lighting projects, and drinking water projects for human and livestock. Second, we should make great efforts to ensure the livelihood of the poor. The participation rate of the new rural cooperative medical system and urban medical insurance reached 80.46%, which laid a solid foundation for people's livelihood projects. The third is to build a new teaching building of 1113 square meters for Qiaoxin primary school, a new nursing home of 1573 square meters, and a cement road of more than 4000 meters in the past two years, bringing the social development of the whole township to a new level. In particular, in 2008, Xiajiang county Party committee and county government planned to build a "Jinping overseas Chinese (ethnic) entrepreneurship Park" in Jinping, covering an area of more than 1000 mu, which has built a broad platform for the township's investment promotion. Two enterprises with an investment of more than 15 million yuan have been introduced.
