Historical evolution

In 1984, Wenpi township was set up by Xinwei commune of Ji'an County.

In 2001, Qingyuan district was established, and Wenpi township was under the jurisdiction of Qingyuan District of Ji'an city.

In December 2012, Wenpi township was abolished and Wenpi town was established.
