Ridongxiang

Ridong Township, subordinate to Ruijin City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the east of Ruijin city. It is adjacent to Shicheng County in the north, Changting County in Fujian Province in the south, Yeping Township and Rentian Town, with a total area of 183 square kilometers, including 15800 mu of cultivated land and 236000 mu of mountain forest, with a forest coverage rate of 85%. It has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages including Ridong, Hupi, Lukeng, Huyang, Zhangkeng, Longjing, Yangang, Ganyuan, chenye and gongtan, 192 villager groups, 467 CPC members and 13 branches. At the end of 2018, Dongxiang had a registered residence population of 22 thousand and 600.

Historical evolution

Ridong township was named after its residence in Ridong polder; in 1950, it was Ridong, HUPO and other townships; in 1958, it was Ridong reclamation farm; in 1981, it set up Ridong commune; in 1984, it was changed to township.

In February 1981, Huangzhu and Longxing administrative villages were under the jurisdiction of ridongying forest farm.

In December 1992, Hupi and Lukeng administrative villages were under the jurisdiction of the state-owned Ridong Reservoir Administration.

In May 1996, Huangzhu, Longxing, Hupi and Lukeng returned to the jurisdiction of Ridong township.

By the end of 2000, Ridong Township had 13 administrative villages and 191 villager groups, including Ridong, Yangang, Huangzhu, Longxing, Longjing, Huyang, Zhangkeng, Yuanhu, Chenying, Longtou, gongtan, Lukeng and Hupi.

In 2005, Huangzhu village and Longxing village merged into Ganyuan village, and chenye village, Longtou village and Yuanhu village merged into chenye village.
