Wudang town

Wudang town, subordinate to Longnan City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Longnan City, Jiangxi Province, 40 kilometers away from Longnan City. It is adjacent to SANHENG town of Dingnan County in the East, Liyuan Town of Heping County in Guangdong Province in the south, Shangping town of Lianping County, Yangcun town in the West and nanheng Township in the north. The total area is 110.11 square kilometers. New Street neighborhood committee. It is named after xiaowudang mountain.

According to relevant data, there are 4 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee, 67 villager groups, 3319 households and 11098 people in the town (2010). All of them belong to the Han nationality.

Before liberation, it belongs to Daba township of Longnan county.

At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Daba Township, Linjiang district.

In 1952, it was divided into Daba and Gangshang townships. Linjiang commune was established in 1958. Wudang Mountain commune was established in 1962. It was merged into nanheng commune in 1968. In 1972, it was separated from nanheng commune and restored to Wudang commune.

In 1984, it was renamed Township, and in December 1989, it was removed from township to town.

In 1997, it covers an area of 110.2 square kilometers and has a population of 13000. It has jurisdiction over Xinjie neighborhood committee and 10 administrative villages including Sanlian, Luotang, Hekou, Daba, Gangshang, Dashan, Shixia, Henggang, bankeng and Baisha.

Climatic characteristics

The terrain is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The highest point is qishannao. The main peak is 869 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is 360 meters above sea level. The main river is Wojiang River, which originates from xiaowudang mountain in the territory, flows from southwest to northeast, and flows through the territory for 6 km. Along the river, it is a hilly and valley area, which is a seasonal river in mountainous area.

The climate belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate. The annual average temperature is 18.1 ℃, the average temperature in January is 7.9 ℃, and the average temperature in July is 26.1 ℃. The annual extreme maximum temperature is 7.9 ℃, the annual extreme minimum temperature is - 5.9 ℃, the accumulated temperature ≥ 5 ℃ is 6363.6 ℃, and the accumulated temperature ≥ 10 ℃ is 5633.6 ℃. The frost free period is 278 days, the average first frost appears in late November, and the average last frost appears in mid February. The annual rainfall is 1790.8 mm, and the annual rainfall is concentrated from April to June.

The mountainous area is the source of the Wojiang River, which is relatively dry and short of water. National Highway 105 passes through the territory from north to south. Wudang Mountain is a scenic spot with many stone peaks. Qitangshan forest farm is in the territory.

The economy is dominated by agriculture. According to relevant data, the cultivated land covers an area of 5650 mu, mainly for rice, and for navel orange, chestnut, orange, peach and other economic crops. The forestry land is 94155 mu.

The traffic conditions are convenient. National Highway 105 runs through the north and south of the town, and every administrative village is connected with cement road.

Wudang town has mineral resources such as fluorite, titanium, lead and zinc, limestone and light rare earth, as well as enterprises such as lime factory, brick factory and wood processing factory.

Culture, education and health. Before liberation, there were only two primary schools. According to relevant information, there are 1 middle school, 7 primary schools, 2583 primary and secondary school students and 139 teaching staff. There is a health center with 8 beds and 7 medical staff. Each brigade has established a medical station with 1 medical staff. The town has also set up radio stations and film teams to enrich the literary and artistic life of its members.

Scenic Spots and Historical Sites

Places of interest include lion cave, Nantian Yuping and xiaowudang mountain. Xiaowudang mountain is located in the southwest of the town, 4km away from the town, and in the south of Dazhong highway. It is one of the scenic spots along the border between Jiangxi and Guangdong. "Longnan county annals" also contains: "Wudang Mountain, such as jade shoots, wall standing ten thousand Ren, about ninety-nine stone peaks, row like straight halberd.". These stone peaks, with ochre brown rocks, have a smooth surface and endless changes in the four seasons. In winter, the red makeup is plain and enchanting. In autumn, the maple forest is green, the mountains are like torches, the summer solstice is dense, the mountain wind is circling, and in spring, flowers are blooming and fragrant everywhere.
