Wanhu town

Wanhu town is a town under the jurisdiction of Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. Located in the southeast of Duchang County. It is adjacent to Xiangxi Township in the East, Poyang Lake in the South and qiangshan in Boyang, Xiyuan Township in the West and Shishan Township in the north.

It covers an area of 37.1 square kilometers and has a population of 29208 (2017). The economy of wanhu town is mainly composed of agriculture, fruit industry, aquaculture, individual enterprises and industry and commerce. Agriculture is mainly planted with rice, rape, peanut and cotton.

In November 2017, wanhu town was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

Historical evolution

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, when Zhu Yuanzhang's army passed by, the Hong family donated thousands of millet stones as military supplies. Zhu was named "wanhu" by Hong, and was also called "wanhu Gong". Later, Hong's family propagated in eight villages nearby, and the word "Hu" was used to replace "Hu", and the eight villages were called wanhupian. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belongs to pingchi Township, a lakeside district. At the beginning of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the Sixth District. Wanhu commune was established in 1958. In 1960, it was merged into Nanfeng commune. In 1962, it was restored to ten thousand communes. In 1984, it was changed into ten thousand townships. In 1995, it was withdrawn from townships to establish towns.

Wanhu town is located in the southeast of Duchang County. It is adjacent to Xiangxi Township in the East, Poyang Lake in the South and qiangshan in Poyang, Xiyuan Township in the West and Shishan Township in the north. Changshan street, the administrative center of the town, is 15km away from the entrance of hangrui (Jiujing) Expressway and 48km away from the county.

Wanhu town is a hilly area near Poyang Lake. The annual average temperature is 15 degrees Celsius. It has a beautiful environment and beautiful scenery. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, which looks like a peninsula. Every winter, a large number of migratory birds gather here. There are green mountains on the top and green water on the bottom. It is an ideal place for rural sightseeing.

Characteristic agriculture includes early rice, medicinal materials, mushroom, Cuiguan pear, bamboo, etc. The main fruit industry is early maturing pear and peach in northern Jiangxi. The planting area of early maturing pear is more than 2000 mu, and the output in 2006 is 2500 tons. It is one of the four major fruit industry towns in the county. The annual output of aquatic products reaches 1800 tons, with more than 1000 cages of fish, mainly including perch, mandarin fish, catfish, mullet, etc. There are 4 individual enterprises in villages and towns, mainly engaged in water pumps, brick kilns, textile and clothing, and land and water transportation. In 2005, the fiscal revenue was 1.5 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 2359 yuan.

Ten thousand township industries include Duchang water pump plant and synthetic plastic plant, which mainly produce various small diameter water pumps, pulverizers, rice seedling throwing trays, etc. In particular, "Beidu" brand water pump is famous all over the country for its "good quality and low price", and its products are exported to more than 20 provinces and cities. Duchang County water pump factory is a professional factory of agricultural water pump production in our province, with 73 employees. The whole factory covers an area of 1.05 hectares, with fixed capital products of more than 1.65 million yuan. Among them, the factory covers an area of 1100 square meters, 32 lathes, 3 drilling machines and 2 small furnaces. The production equipment is complete and advanced. With assets of more than 2.68 million yuan, it is a provincial first-class township enterprise, with a daily output of 100 agricultural small pumps, and has developed 16 varieties and 38 specifications of industrial pumps, chemical pumps, sewage pumps, management pumps, high-rise water supply pumps, among which gn80-15 energy-saving agricultural pumps won the "Gold Award" and the third prize of science and technology in Jiangxi Province in 1990.
