Puting town

Puting town is the seat of De'an County Party committee and county government. It is located in the South and west of Jiujiang City, Southeast of De'an County. It faces Hedong Township in the east across Boyang river. It is adjacent to Gongqing city in the southeast, Baota Township in the West and Fenglin town in the north. Boyang river flows into Poyang Lake around De'an County.

Beijing Kowloon Railway, Changjiu intercity railway, Fuyang Yinchuan Expressway and national highway 105 pass through the territory, known as "the thoroughfare of northern Jiangxi".

Puting town has five major landscapes in De'an, such as "wild geese falling from the pond", "Yifeng towering green", "Jindai River", "gengsuo in Nanzhuang" and "Wenhua tower". The town is also the hometown of Academician Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice in the world.

Historical evolution

It belonged to Chengguan town in 1953, changed to Chengguan Town commune in 1958, established new town commune in 1969, restored Chengguan town in 1980, and renamed puting town in 1981. In 1997, it covers an area of 4.2 square kilometers and has a population of 29000. In 2002, the three administrative villages of pailou, Guilin and Fucheng under the jurisdiction of Baota Township were assigned to puting town. By 2014, there were 7 communities and 4 administrative villages in puting town.
