Liuhu town

Liuhu town is located in the south of Xinjian District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, on the West Bank of Ganjiang River, about 25 kilometers away from Nanchang City, the capital of Jiangxi Province. It borders Houtian town in the East, Songhu town and Fengcheng City in the south, Shigang town and Xishan town in the west, Shibu town and Shengmi town in Honggutan District in the north. It is close to 320 national highway, Shanghai Kunming expressway, Wenhou Expressway and Changzhang expressway, with convenient transportation. The town has a total area of 124.68 square kilometers, a cultivated area of 4418 hectares and a population of 44500 (in 2017), including 5300 urban residents. It has jurisdiction over 27 administrative villages, 152 natural villages and 2 neighborhood committees. Liuhu has a long history, rich in agricultural products, rich in quality rice, onion, peanuts, watermelon and other agricultural products.

Historical evolution

Chetang and Yidu communes were established in 1958, merged into Liuhu commune in 1969, and changed to township in 1984. In 1997, it covers an area of 78.6 square kilometers and has a population of 25000. It governs 18 administrative villages, namely, Dishang, Lulin, Xihong, chetang, Baishu, Liantang, Xintang, Beigang, Guxi, Doumen, Shangfang, dingfang, Dengbu, Qingxi, Shuxi, Luoqiao, Zhongfang and Nangang. Township government in gangshangjie, 30 kilometers away from the county. On November 15, 2001, Yidu township was abolished and transferred to Liuhu township (GaN min Zi No. 520 reply). In 1997, with an area of 54 square kilometers and a population of 13000, it has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages, namely Zhangyi, Dagang, Qingxin, Louxia, Yidu, Chengfang, Beicheng, Hongxing and Honggang. Township government in Yidu street, 39 kilometers away from the county. In 2001, Yidu township was abolished and transferred to Liuhu township.
