Historical evolution

Zhongsha commune was established in 1958 and changed to township in 1984. In 1997, it governed 13 village committees and Zhongsha neighborhood committees, including Zhongsha, Shuangyuan, Zhangrong, Loujia, Shimen, Wuchang, Gaoping, Yefang, Xiasha, Hewu, Banxi and lianshe.

All the townships are descendants of Hakka. In ancient times, it was said that Hesha was once named Jinsha because of its gold content. The local style is simple and enthusiastic. In history, there were 1 Tanhua, 8 Jinshi, 12 Juren and 20 Gongsheng. Wuchang village still has a good preserved stone road and two stone horse bolts built in Tang Dynasty.
