It is located in the middle and upper part of Mengwa flood storage reservoir, adjacent to Jixiang in the west, XiangLiu town and Wangjiaba town in the south, Caoji town in the East, Wanghua town in the north, and the North Bank of Huaihe River. It is at the North-South boundary and has four distinct seasons. During the period of the Republic of China, it was called laoguoxiang, also known as Laoguan.

Basic situation

Laoguan township is located in the middle and upper part of Mengwa flood storage reservoir, covering an area of 45.45 km. The reservoir is 35.2km in length, with 36387mu of cultivated land. There are 6038mu of cultivated land in the flood passage outside the reservoir. There are 8 village committees and 146 village groups in a baozhuangwei. There are 47 safe village platforms, 40 unsafe village platforms under 28.5m, and a 9.9km safe retreat road running through the whole township. The traffic is inconvenient. The resident population was 36288 (2017). The huaimeng dyke is 26.145 km long and the baozhuangyu new dyke is 1069 km long. Laoguan jianbaozhuang polder covers an area of 1713 mu, with an area of 1350 mu. There are 1261 immigrant houses built by 5676 people, including 192 unified houses, 1069 self built houses, 1126 rooms, and one entertainment room for the elderly.

Rural division

During the period of the Republic of China, it was called laoguoxiang, also known as Laoguan, and platform village, Laoguan village, Wangying village, three villages and one lane. It was a large trade center in Mengwa area along Huaihe River. After liberation, cuiji commune of Angang district was set up. In 1979, Laoguan commune was set up under the jurisdiction of Caoji District, including Shanghe brigade, Xiahe brigade, Douhe brigade, Liulou brigade, etc. In 1992, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Laoguan Township and Hutao Township formed a new Laoguan township. It has jurisdiction over 8 administrative villages, including Xinhe, Douhe, Laoguan, Hetai, Wanggang, Shunhe, Hekou and Kanghu, 45 natural villages and 40 villager groups

Every time there is a flood, the flood control road through zhangdataizi village becomes the only way for the downstream people to travel. and various social undertakings have made great progress. There is a white goose breeding base in the west of Anhui Province, and now there are 36000 white geese. Because of the local water and grass, white goose body fat meat beauty, by foreign merchants praise. Each goose can pull down three times a year. The selling price of goose down is equivalent to the investment in raising goose. Each goose can make a net profit of 70 yuan a year. Only this item can generate an annual income of 2.52 million yuan.
