Zhangpu town

Zhangpu town is a combination of the former Ping'an town and the former Zhangpu town. Zhangpu market town is 32 kilometers away from the urban area, with Chajian town of Tianchang City in the south, Datong town of Tianchang City in the East, huanghuatang town of Xuyi county in Jiangsu Province in the north, and JIUPU town of Xuyi County in Jiangsu Province in the West. According to the official website of the local people's government, the town has 9 village committees and 2 neighborhood committees, 208 villager groups and 32651 permanent residents (2017). The total area of the town is 138.1 square kilometers, the main agricultural products are rice, wheat, rape, garlic, corn and so on.

Traffic situation

Historical changes

Zhangpu town has a long history. It was recorded as the six capitals of Xixiang in tianchangzhi written by Jiajing of Ming Dynasty. Since then, there have been many changes in the town. Until 1975, Liangying and Jitang were assigned to Bianyi township. From 1969 to 1973, the name of Zhangpu township was changed to "Lixin". During the war of resistance against Japan and the war of liberation, Zhangpu was a revolutionary base. The division headquarters of the second division of the New Fourth Army and many important organs of the New Fourth Army were stationed in Zhangpu. Liu Shaoqi, Fang Yi, Zhang Yunyi, Deng Zihui and many other revolutionaries of the older generation fought and lived here. In 1992, the township was replaced by Zhangpu town and Ping'an town. The original office address of Zhangpu town government was moved from central road of Zhangpu street to Tianwang road in 1993. The original office address of Ping'an town government is Xinglong Road, Ping'an Street. Until April 2007, the new office address of Zhangpu town was 158 Tianwang road.
