Xishadian town

Xishadian town is located 15 kilometers west of Dingyuan County in Anhui Province. It is named because it is far away from Dingyuan County in the West. The total area of the town is 169 square kilometers. Now it has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages and 221 villager groups.

Historical evolution

Xishadian town is named after xishadian, a natural market town, which is located in the west of Dingyuan county. In 1949, xishadian township was set up (once the residence of Haiqing District). In 1956, xishadian senior agricultural society was established. In 1958, xishadian people's commune was established. In 1966, it was changed to "Hongdian". In 1971, it was restored to its original name. In 1984, it was changed to xishadian township Qiao township was merged into xishadian town. At the end of 1993, it was separated from Dongxing Township and Chengqiao township as xishadian town. In March 2007, it was merged with Dongxing township as xishadian town.
