Liyang Town

Liyang Town belongs to He county, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province. It is the political, economic and cultural center of He county. It was called Yafu city in ancient times. It was built by fan Zeng, Marquis of Liyang, more than 2000 years ago. It was once an ancient Yangzhou station in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The town is "Star Town", "top ten town" and "national advanced town of spiritual civilization" in Ma'anshan City. The total area of the town is 181.79 square kilometers (2017). Liyang Town is located in the east of Nanjing, facing Ma'anshan across the river. Chaoning road and Chuwu Road pass through the territory. It takes less than 90 minutes to drive to Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, Nanjing Lukou Airport and Wuhu Wanli airport. There are the golden waterway of the Yangtze River and three rivers connecting the Yangtze River. The water and land transportation is very convenient.

Historical evolution

Yafu city was built in 204 BC and xuangui town in the period of the Republic of China. Liyang district (town) was set up in 1949, commune was changed in 1958, and town was changed in 1965. In 1997, it covers an area of 61.3 square kilometers and has a population of 69000. It has jurisdiction over eight neighborhood committees in Hengjiang, Xinmin, Xinshi, Zhenhuai, Huayang, Chaoyang, Daqiao and Beimen, and seven village committees in Shili, Baiguo, Beiyang, Huawei, dahuangzhou, Shuangyan, Gaodao, Gongyi, Chengbei, Heming, Longqiao, Liulong, Jinhe, Chengxi, Chaohu, Desheng and vegetable. In 2004, qianba, Shengli, longta and Wuxing of Xibu town and Xinhe, Tianhe and Chengdong of Chengnan Township were incorporated into Liyang Town. After the adjustment, Liyang Town governs 8 neighborhood committees of Jinhe, Huayang, Chaoyang, Zhenhuai, Daqiao, Longtan, Xincheng and Hengjiang, and 19 village committees of Baiguo, Heyang, Shuangqiao, Shuangyan, highway, Gongyi, Chengbei, Longqiao, Liulong, Jinhe, Chengxi, Chaohu, qianba, Shengli, longta, Wuxing, Xinhe, Tianhe and Chengdong, covering an area of 96 square kilometers. In 2005, the former Chengnan Township was incorporated into Liyang Town. After the adjustment, Liyang Town has jurisdiction over 9 neighborhood committees and 24 village committees.

Liyang Town was formed by the merger of the former Liyang Town and Chengnan Township, the birthplace of greenhouse vegetable production in China, at the end of 2005. It has realized the complementary advantages of industry and agriculture, and significantly enhanced its comprehensive strength and advantages. Industrial development has begun to take shape. There is a provincial-level economic development zone and a private industrial concentration zone in the territory. An industrial system with machinery, chemical industry, building materials and agricultural and sideline products processing as the pillars has been built. It is an advanced demonstration base of pollution-free vegetable production in China with obvious characteristics of agricultural production. It is rich in all kinds of vegetables, melons and fruits. In 2005, the planting area reached 136000 Mu and the output reached 240000 tons.
