Shengqiao town

Shengqiao town belongs to Lujiang County, Hefei City, Anhui Province. It is adjacent to Baihu in the south, Chaohu in the north, Muji in Chaohu City in the East, Baishan town in the northwest and yefushan town in the southwest. It has a total area of 128.32 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 57728 people (2017). It governs 11 villages (communities).

Evolution of organizational system

Shengqiao Town, where the former Shengqiao district office is located, has a long history. There are ancient human sites in shendun of Banqiao. There are many historical sites left from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Three Kingdoms period. The Three Kingdoms belong to the Wei Dynasty, and there is a Tucheng, where Cao Pi, Emperor Wen of Wei, stationed troops. Zhang Xianzhong surrounded Luzhou in the late Ming Dynasty and led a division to attack Lucheng. Baojia system was established in the second year of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty.

During the period of the Republic of China, they were all the places where the township government was located. Historically, they belonged to Lujiang River. Jinyuan, Cangtou, Zhongyang, Jincheng and other administrative villages in the region used to belong to Tianbao township of Chaoxian county. From March 1941 to July 1943, it was occupied by the Japanese army. In 1948, the Democratic Huxi county government was established, and Shengqiao town was the seat of the county government.

Historical development

In 1949, Huxi county was abolished and Shengqiao district was set up, with 11 townships and one township level town under its jurisdiction, namely Peigang Township, Binhu Township, Baihu Township, Yuping Township, Shengqiao Township, Xuqiao Township, Jincheng Township, Dongyue Township, denggang Township, Pugang Township, Wuli Township and Shengqiao township.

In 1950, the district system was changed into a small one with six townships, namely Shengqiao Township, Dongyue Township, Wuli Township, Xuqiao Township, Jincheng Township and Tashan township.

In 1952, Chaoxian county and Lujiang River were divided again. The south of Chaohu Lake and the west of Zhaohe River were assigned to Lujiang River. Shengqiao District governs one town and thirteen townships, namely Shengqiao Town, Jincheng Township, Qili Township, Cangtou Township, Daxing Township, Dongyue Township, Jiehe Township, Weigang Township, Shishan Township, Magang Township, shendun Township, Wuli Township, Banqiao Township and Shengqiao township. In November 1953, Shengqiao water Township was added to carry out water transportation and fishery production.

In November 1958, Shengqiao people's Commune and Weigang people's commune were established in the original district. There are four brigades under Shengqiao people's commune, namely Shishan, Shengqiao, Qili and Dongyue; and there are four brigades under Weigang people's commune, namely Tianbu, Weigang, Wuli and Xuqiao.

It was founded in 1962, with eight communes, namely Shishan, Shengqiao, Qili, Dongyue, Xugang, Tianbu, Weigang and Wuli. From 1983 to 1984, the commune was transformed into a township.

In 1985, Shengqiao town was established.

In 1989, the market town covered an area of 300 square meters, and the Luchao Road, which was 1500 meters across the market town, 30 meters across the street and 17 meters along the road, was widened, so that the old street in the east-west direction was completely transformed.

From 1992 to 1993, according to the new town planning and the widening of provincial highway 316, the original Luchao road was moved to the northwest. The streets and fields were requisitioned, 66 meters wide and 2000 meters long, and the elevation was increased by 1.6 meters to 13 meters above sea level.

In 1996, a new bridge was built 200 meters away from the old bridge, making xinluchao road 42 meters wide in the market town and gradually forming a new street. Shengqiao junior high school is built 2000 meters south of the town, and a comprehensive teaching building is built.

From 2002 to 2003, in order to connect the old and new streets, a Zhongxing Street was built in the town, and a new agricultural market covering an area of 36 Mu was planned. A new industrial park covering an area of 200 mu was built 3000 meters to the east of the town, with six enterprises settled in and an investment of 80 million yuan.

In 2004, a new teaching building of 3000 square meters was built in Shengqiao middle school, which made the construction of Shengqiao town move to a new height. The market town covers an area of 1100 square meters.

After the township was withdrawn and merged in 2005, the new Shengqiao town was rebuilt. It was 200 meters deep northward along the central street and turned to the west to connect with Shengqiao Tongda Road. It was advanced by 66 meters. A 3000 mu Industrial Park was planned along Shengtong road to both sides of the original Xuqiao Township government.

It now governs towns and townships

In July 2005, Shengqiao town and Xuqiao town were merged into Shengqiao Town, which has 11 administrative villages and communities, namely shendun village, Qili Village, Cangtou village, Jincheng village, Dongyue Village, Jiehe village, Xuqiao village, Huarong village, dougang village, Banqiao Village, Shengqiao village and shenjiaqiao community.

Since ancient times, Shengqiao town has been the residence of Han people. According to the statistics of the general election in 1954, there were 12253 households and 52876 people in 14 townships in the former Shengqiao district (including 355 households and 1223 people flowing into farmers). According to the third census in 1982, there are 20073 households and 90929 people in the district. In Shengqiao Town, including Shengqiao, Wuli, Dongyue, Qili, Xuqiao and community, there are 14531 households with a population of 65216.

In 1992, Shengqiao town (including XUQIAO township) had 37 administrative villages and communities, 631 villager groups and a total population of 67234.

In 1995, there were 37 Administrative Village neighborhood committees, 645 villager groups, 17479 households, 71011 population and 3086 non-agricultural population.

In 2000, there were 37 administrative villages and 622 villager groups, with a total number of 18023 households and a total population of 72392. The agricultural population was 67865 and the non-agricultural household registration was 4527.
