Daidong town
Dadong town is located in the east of Daishan Island, Daishan County, Zhejiang Province. It is adjacent to Zhuyu port in the East and North, daiquyang in the south, Gaoting town in the South and Dongsha town in the West. There are eight large and small islands, with a total land area of 22.9 square kilometers and five administrative villages. 12909 people (in 2017), the town government is located at No. 11, Dongxing Middle Road, 5.6km away from Gaoting town.
General situation
In 1989, "Lulan Qingsha" scenic spot was approved as a provincial-level scenic spot. In 2007, it was named "ecological town" in Zhejiang Province. In 2008, it passed the acceptance of Zhoushan health Township, and in 2009, it passed the acceptance of Zhoushan Island Baihua township. In 2008, Daidong town achieved a total social output value of 623 million yuan, local fiscal revenue of 7.065 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 52.9%; the per capita net income of fishermen and farmers was 11665 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13%, and the comprehensive economic and social development level of the town improved rapidly.
Historical evolution
Dadong town has a long history. The Houdun site of Dashun temple in Beier village proves that the ancestors lived in the Neolithic Age about 4000 years ago. It is said that 2200 years ago, Qin Shihuang sent Xufu, a alchemist, to lead thousands of men and women into the sea to seek the magic medicine from Penglai mountain to the Shayang after Daidong. In the Qing Dynasty, Daidong belonged to daiyi and daierliangzhuang, Penglai Township, Dinghai county. In the Republic of China, it was Donghe Township, Dinghai County; in 1949, it was Daidong Township, Wengzhou County; in May 1950, Daishan was liberated, and it was still Daidong Township, belonging to Dinghai County; in November 1953, it was divided into five townships, namely Shayang, Longtou, Hudou, Beifeng and Nanfeng; in May 1956, four townships, Hudou, Beifeng, Shayang and Longtou, merged to form Daidong township In October, 1958, Daidong township was divided into Daidong Township and Beifeng township; in October, 1958, it was Daizhong people's commune, Daidong and Beifeng two management areas, belonging to Zhoushan County; in October, 1961, Daidong people's commune was established; in June, 1962, it was restored to Daishan County; in March, 1972, its banjingtan brigade was assigned to Nanfeng commune; in 1984, Daidong people's commune was changed to township; in August, 1995, it was changed to Daidong Town, implementing the system of town managing village .
Natural features
The total land area of the town is 22.9 square kilometers. There are 8 islands such as dazhuyu and xiaozhuyu, 13 reefs, and 5 new communities with a population of 12909 (2017). The township is an island and hilly area, surrounded by mountains on three sides, with continuous hills. The Laoying mountain and moxin mountain are 207.08 meters and 257.1 meters above sea level respectively. Two reservoirs, luoshawan and moxin, the largest on Daishan Island, are built at the foot of the mountain, with a total water storage capacity of more than 3 million cubic meters. It is adjacent to the sea in the East, and has Beifeng seawall and houshayang seawall along the coast, with a total length of 4.98 kilometers.

According to the meteorological data statistics, the annual average temperature is 16.2 ℃, the average precipitation is 927.3 mm, the average frost free period is 296 days, and the average annual sunshine hours is 2257 hours.
