According to records, Meixu began in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. Weimeifu, a native of Shouchun in Jiujiang, Nanchang, abandoned his official position to live in seclusion because of his opposition to Wang Mang's power. He named Meixu after his surname Mei and the local market. Meixu township was established in 1983. In 1988, it was changed from township to town. Meixu town was merged into Qiuai town in 1992.

In 1993, the county Party committee and government of Yin County designated the former Meixu town from Qiuai town as a county-level Industrial Zone, and its administrative area is still under the jurisdiction of Qiuai town. In 1999, Meixu industrial zone was included in the master plan of Ningbo Science and technology park. In 2003, 15 villages including Qianjia, Meixu, DACAO, Dachi, zhuangqian, Shangwang, Jianglong, Longshan, tutianzhang, tantouhe, xujiawa, fangjiaqiao, baoqiaojin, aojiaqiao and Tengyuan were set up in Qiuai town. Meixu Street covers an area of 15 square kilometers and has a permanent resident population of 15039, including 1726 non-agricultural people.
