Gangzha District Gangzha District (which has been abolished and merged into Chongchuan District) is a rapidly developing sub center of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. It is located on the North Bank of the Yangtze River Estuary and in the middle of Nantong city. In the west, it is bounded by jiuweigang River and faces Pingchao town of Tongzhou District across the river. Historical evolution

Gangzha District was formerly a suburb of Nantong city. In 1991, the urban administrative division was adjusted. Chenqiao Township, Xingfu Township and qinzao Township under the jurisdiction of Nantong county (now Tongzhou District), Tangzha town and tianshenggang town under the jurisdiction of the original urban area were put under the jurisdiction of the suburb. Rengang Township, Zhongxiu Township, Bachang Township and Langshan Township under the jurisdiction of the suburb were put under the jurisdiction of the urban area. With the approval of the State Council, the suburb was renamed Gangzha District . In 1993, Gangzha Economic Development Zone was established. In 1996, qinzao township was removed to build a town.
