Yangdong District Yangdong District, the jurisdiction of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest coast of Guangdong Province, the western edge of the Pearl River Delta, Taishan and Enping City in the East, Jiangcheng District of Yangjiang City in the west, Yangchun City in the north and Nanhai City in the south, covering an area of 1703 square kilometers. By 2019, Yangdong district has jurisdiction over 11 towns with a total population of 517400.
Yangdong district has rich and colorful traditional dragon boat culture, kite culture, DanJia culture, knife and scissors culture and catering culture. On January 7, 1988, Yangjiang City was established as Yangdong District of Yangjiang City by withdrawing the county into a city (prefecture level). Because of its geographical location in the east of Yangjiang, it is called Yangdong. Yangdong district is the manufacturing center of the hardware knife and scissors industry cluster, forming an industrial system dominated by hardware manufacturing, food, clothing, wood processing and other industries, with the reputation of "China's scissors capital".
In 2019, the GDP of Yangdong district will reach 30.218 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%.
Historical evolution
In the sixth year of Yuanding (111) of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, Gaoliang county was set up, which belongs to Hepu County. The county government is in the North (the ancient town of Daba in the district today), and Yangdong district belongs to Gaoliang county.
From the first year to the second year of Datong (527-528), Emperor Wudi of Liang Dynasty set up Gaozhou with Gaoliang County as the center, and changed Anning County into Gaoliang county. The county government is still in the ancient town of Daba town in the East District of Yang today. Since the Han Dynasty, Daba ancient city and Baisha old city were governed by Gaoliang county and Xiping County respectively.
In the early Sui Dynasty, the county was abandoned and Yangjiang county was established in the second year of Daye (606). Now Yangdong district is Yangjiang county.
In November of the fourth year of Wude (621), Feng ang (the grandson of Mrs. Xian returned to the Tang Dynasty) abolished the Gaozhou governor's office, and set up enzhou with Yangjiang, Xiping, duling and Qi'an as the original Gaozhou Prefecture. Today, the Eastern District of Yang is the enzhou district.
In 1048, song Renzong changed enzhou to nanenzhou.
In 1368, the first year of Hongwu (1368), Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, Nanen Prefecture was abolished and Yangjiang county was established.
In April 1867, Yangjiang county was upgraded to Zhili Prefecture. In the third year of Yue Dynasty, Zhili Prefecture of Yangjiang was changed into Zhili Hall of Yangjiang. In 1906, the system of Zhili Prefecture was restored.
In October 1949, Yangjiang was liberated. The former Yangjiang county was under the jurisdiction of Guangdong technical secondary school district. In 1952, it was changed to western Guangdong administrative office, and in 1956, it was changed to Zhanjiang Commissioner's office. In September 1983, it was under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen City.
On January 7, 1988, Yangjiang county was set up as a city (prefecture level), and Yangxi County, Yangdong district and Jiangcheng district were established as the administrative areas under the jurisdiction of Yangjiang county. On April 2, Yangdong District People's Government of Yangjiang City was established, and the district government is located at No. 1 Wanfu road in the urban area.
On June 22, 1991, with the consent of the people's Government of Guangdong Province and the approval of the State Council, Yangdong District of Yangjiang City was abolished and Yangdong county was established to govern the former administrative region of Yangdong district.

Yangdong district is located in the southwest coast of Guangdong Province and the western edge of the Pearl River Delta. It is 21 ° 42 ′ 22.15 ″ east longitude and 111 ° 42 ′ 112.21 ″ east longitude. Yangdong district is a Coastal Hilly Area. The whole landform is composed of mountainous area, hilly area, valley plain and ridge plain. Among them, 26% are mountainous areas, 42% are hilly areas, and 13% are Valley plains and ridge plains. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing the sea in the South and Moyang River Basin in the middle. The terrain inclines from north to south, with crisscross valleys.
The eastern mountainous area is ziluo mountain, mainly in Xinzhou and Dongping towns, with the highest peak at ziluo mountain in Xinzhou Town, 793 meters above sea level; the northern mountainous area is Zhuhuan mountain, located in Daba Town, extending to Yangdong, Yangchun and Enping, which is the natural barrier in the northern part of Yangdong District, with the highest peak at langtouling, 1014.6 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in the area; it is distributed in Tangping, Heshan and beitu town in the middle There is Dongan mountain, the highest peak at 574 meters above sea level.
The hilly platform is mainly distributed in the central and Southern towns. The alluvial plain is mainly distributed in the towns on both sides of Moyang River and Nalong River, including beitu and yashao. Coastal plain is mainly distributed in coastal areas.

The main rivers in Yangdong district are Moyang River and shouchang River, among which Moyang river has main stream and two tributaries of Nalong River and Daba river. The whole basin spans Yangchun, Yunfu, Xinxing, Enping, Taishan, Yangdong and other cities and counties.
Nalong river is a first-class tributary. It originates from goutouling, Naji Town, Enping City. The whole catchment area is 945 square kilometers, with a total length of 67 kilometers and a width of 150-300 meters. It joins the main stream of Moyang River in Ganglie village, Yangjiang City. There are three tributaries in the upper reaches of Nalong River, namely Chetian River (also known as Naji River), backflow River and zhouheng river.
Daba river is a secondary tributary. It originates from laotouling, Zhuhuan mountain, Daba Town, with a rainfall collection area of 278 square kilometers and a total length of 42 kilometers. It flows into the main stream of Moyang river at Dalang cave, Tangping town.
Shouchang River (also known as Sanhe River) flows into the sea alone. It originates from shamiaoding of ziluo mountain, flows through three towns of Xinzhou, Dongping and Dagou, and leaves the South China Sea at Sanya port. Shouchang river has a total length of 29.5 kilometers and a rainfall collection area of 271 square kilometers.

Yangdong belongs to subtropical marine monsoon climate, with obvious monsoon. It blows northeast and north winds in winter and Southeast winds in summer. The typhoon activity period is in summer and autumn, and it is often attacked by cold air in winter and spring. The annual average sunshine time is about 2012 hours, and the frost free period is long. The annual average sunshine time is more than 350 days in Zhuhuan, Taidong and Luotian in the northern part of the territory, and more than 360 days in other areas, or no frost in the whole year. According to the data of Yangdong Yearbook 2016, the average annual temperature of Yangjiang City (including Yangdong District) is about 22.3 ℃, the average annual rainfall is 2300mm, and the frost free period is about 350 days; the annual rainy season is from April to September. The common climate disasters are frequent, especially typhoon, drought and flood.
Yangdong district is one of the three rainy areas in Guangdong Province (Qingyuan Fogang Longmen; Haifeng Lufeng; Yangjiang Enping), with abundant rainfall and numerous rivers, with an average annual rainfall of 2136 mm. The main characteristics are long flood season, short dry season and uneven distribution of time and space. The main source of water supply is atmospheric precipitation. The rainfall in flood season (April to September) accounts for 88.7% of the annual rainfall, and the maximum 24-hour rainfall is 785 mm.

The annual average total surface water resources in Yangdong district is 2.4 billion cubic meters, with annual average precipitation of 1938.8 mm and annual average runoff depth of 1430 mm. There are many large and small rivers in the territory with scattered water systems. The main rivers are Moyang River, Daba River, Nalong River, Sanhe River, zhouheng River and Jinjiang River. Moyang river is the largest river flowing through Yangdong District, with a drainage area of 1393 square kilometers and a main stream of 23.8 kilometers. Daba river is one of the two major tributaries of the lower reaches of Moyang river. It flows from north to south through Daba town and Tangping town to DALONGDONG near Shijiao and joins the main stream of Moyang river. It has a total length of 42 km, a rainfall collection area of 278 square kilometers and a river gradient of 1.11 ‰. Nalong river is a primary tributary of Moyang river. It flows through Nalong, Heshan, beitu and Dongcheng towns. It joins with the main stream of Moyang river at the downstream of Jianshan bridge in yashao town and flows into Beijin port. It has a total length of 67 km, a rainfall collection area of 945 square kilometers and a river gradient of 0.43 ‰. Sanhe River (shouchang River) is located in the east of Yangdong district. It flows through Xinzhou town and shouchang Town, and then flows into the South China Sea at Sanya port in Dagou town. It has a total length of 29.5km, a rainfall collection area of 271km2 and a river gradient of 1.46 ‰. Zhouheng river is a secondary tributary of Moyang river. It flows from north to south through Jinggang and dagangtang. It turns to the east at zhouheng village, Daba Town, and flows into Nalong river through Hengdong and Najia on Tianpan. The river is 29 km long, with a rainfall collection area of 129 square kilometers and a river gradient of 4.39 ‰. Jinjiang River flows from Tianpan Xin'an village to Nalong River from north to south. The river is 31.6 km long, with 112 square kilometers of rainfall collection area and a river gradient of 9.2 ‰.
Geothermal resources
Xinzhoufei mineral spring: located 5 kilometers north of Xinzhou Town, it can be reached by road, with daily water output of more than 30 million cubic meters, average water temperature of 95.5 ℃ and the highest temperature of 101 ℃. It is the largest proven high-temperature hot water field in Guangdong Province.
Heshan hot mineral spring: it is about 5km to the east of Heshan Town and more than 100m to the south of Guangzhan highway. There are more than 20 springs with a self flow rate of 6.032lgs. The highest water temperature is 72 ℃, which belongs to medium high temperature hot water. The mineral spring is about 35 meters long and 15 meters wide.
