Chapter 14 of Laozi: "rope can't be named. It can be attributed to nothing. It is a state without form and an image without matter." Ge Hong of Jin Dynasty wrote in the book of immortals Wang Yuan: "the clothes have literary grace, but they are not brocade and gorgeous. They are dazzling and indescribable."
