Zhu Jingxuan

Zhu Jingxuan was born in Wujun (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province) in the Tang Dynasty when Wuzong Huichang (841-846) was a scholar. He was appointed as a counsellor at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. He was a Bachelor of Li Hanlin and a crown prince. There are 15 poems in one volume. He compiled the famous paintings of Tang Dynasty.

The famous paintings of the Tang Dynasty is a history of paintings written in the style of biography, which created a precedent for the compilation of the history of paintings and had a far-reaching impact on future generations. The editor commented on various schools with four grades of "Shen, Miao, Neng and Yi", among which "Shen, Miao and Neng" can be divided into three grades: upper, middle and lower. The painters who "do not stick to the usual painting style" enter the leisure life. According to his personal views, the author thinks that the people of Shenpin are more detailed, the people of miaozpin are more detailed, the people of nengpin are more brief, and the three people of Yipin are more detailed.
