How to overcome conceit

(1) Improve self-awareness: to have a comprehensive understanding of self, we should not only see our own advantages and strengths, but also see our own shortcomings and shortcomings. We should not be blinded by one leaf, and we should not miss Mount Tai. It would be biased to hold on to one point. Self recognition can not be evaluated in isolation, but should be investigated in the society. Everyone lives in the world with his own uniqueness, where others are inferior to him, and where he is inferior to others. Compared with others, we should not always compare our own strengths with others' shortcomings, and treat others as nothing.

(2) Learn to accept criticism: the fatal weakness of conceited people is their unwillingness to change their attitude or accept other people's views. To accept criticism is the method proposed for this characteristic. It doesn't mean that conceited people should be completely subordinated to others. It just requires them to accept other people's correct views and change their past image of being opinionated and egotistical by accepting other people's criticism.

(3) We should look at conceit from the perspective of development: we should not only see our past, but also see our present and future. "Heroes don't mention the courage of those years". The glorious past may indicate that a person was a hero in the past, but it doesn't represent the present, let alone the future.

(4) Know how to be modest: no one can have the capital to be proud forever, because no one, even if he has deep attainments in a certain aspect, can say that he has thoroughly mastered and studied all. Therefore, no one can think that he has reached the highest level and stop, arrogant. If that is the case, it will soon be caught up by peers and overtaken by later generations.

(5) Treat others equally: conceited people regard themselves as God, and ask others to obey themselves unreasonably in both ideas and actions. To get along with others equally is to ask the conceited person to communicate with others equally as an ordinary social member. One should treat others as he wants others to treat him.
