State the instructions correctly

When leaders issue orders to subordinates, they have the following specific skills:

(1) The order should be focused, not comprehensive. If you want to make the order too detailed and lengthy, it will only create misunderstanding and confusion.

(2) In order to make the command brief and to the point, you should emphasize the result, not the method. In order to achieve this goal, task-based commands can be used. A task-based command is to tell a person what you want him to do and when to do it, but not how to do it. "How to do it" is a question for him to consider. Task based command opens the door for those who do alternative work to mobilize their imagination, initiative and originality. No matter what your route is, this kind of command will lead people to the best way to do things. If you are doing business for yourself, improving ways and methods means increasing profits.

(3) When people know exactly what results you need, when they know exactly what their work is, you can decentralize authority and supervise their work more effectively. If you are in business or industry, or in sales, or even in the military, when you can ensure that people know exactly what they are doing, at least you will enjoy the two specific benefits of reducing your work pressure and supervising your subordinates more effectively.

(4) When you give simple and clear commands that are easy to understand, people will know what you want to do and they will start doing it immediately. They don't have to come back to you again and again in order to find out what you're saying. In most cases, the main reason a person doesn't do a good job for you is that he or she doesn't really understand what you want him or her to do. If you want others to carry out your orders exactly, simple and concise orders are absolutely necessary. It's a solid rule that you have to follow.

(5) The order should not be too complicated, but as simple as possible. The best plan is one that is uncomplicated in formulation, expression and implementation. Such a plan is also easier to understand. A simple plan will also reduce the chance of mistakes, and its simplicity will speed up the implementation.
