How to give first aid to snakebite

After being bitten by poisonous snakes, the most important thing is to take measures to prevent the absorption and diffusion of venom.

(1) Don't run around, it will make the venom spread to the whole body quickly. The injured person should immediately sit down or lie down, help himself or call others, and quickly bind the proximal end of the wound with a rope such as shoelaces and trouser belts that can be found. For example, if the thigh is bitten, the thigh root can be bound. After binding, release every 30 minutes or so, 1-2 minutes each time, so as not to affect blood circulation and cause tissue necrosis.

(2) To quickly remove the venom, immediately wash the wound and surrounding skin with cold boiled water, spring water, soapy water or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution to remove the venom on the surface of the wound. If there are residual poisonous teeth in the wound, it should be quickly picked out with a knife or broken glass. It is best to use fire to disinfect before use. After that, if you take the teacup with you, you can remove the cupping from the wound. First, light a small piece of paper in the teacup, then quickly buckle the cup mouth on the wound, make the cup mouth close to the skin around the wound, and use the negative pressure generated in the cup to suck out the venom. When sucking the wound with mouth for detoxification, the mouth and lips of the sucker must be free from damage and caries, otherwise there is a risk of poisoning. Spit out the venom immediately and gargle with water after suction.

(3) After detoxification, wet compress the wound to facilitate the outflow of venom. It must be noted that snake venom is a highly toxic substance, which can cause death in a very small amount. Therefore, we must not refuse the treatment of wound incision and detoxification for fear of pain.
