When responding to a toast, the words should be generalized

When some people express their thanks, they often add a few more sentences after the necessary information has been basically conveyed, or they unintentionally say a few more sentences out of habit, which will cause the negative impact of deviating from the original conversation direction and destroying the original intention of expressing thanks.

For example, at a new deputy factory director's birthday party, out of politeness, the brother of the deputy factory director stood up and toasted his brother's factory colleagues and superiors, while saying, "thank you for your care over the years, which made him vice factory director." With this sentence finished, the younger brother glared at him. After the banquet, the younger brother quarreled with him because of the second half of the sentence.

Obviously, the second half of my brother's words are not appropriate, because the content of thanks is too specific, which is easy to be misunderstood. I feel that becoming deputy factory director is only the result of the care of colleagues and superiors, not his own strength, so I want to express my special thanks for this. The negative effect is that it not only narrows the scope of gratitude - it seems that he only thanks for helping, but also belittles his younger brother - it seems that he is incompetent and can only rely on helping. As a matter of fact, there are many factors to be a vice factory director: one's own subjective efforts, favorable weather and location, the trust of colleagues, the support of superiors, and so on. In fact, the elder brother just needs to thank all colleagues and superiors for their care. There is no need to say the specific content of the care, which makes people have unnecessary misunderstanding.
