Be good at discovering the strengths of others

During the Warring States period, mengchang Jun of Qi state was famous for his numerous door guests, who were known as "three thousand door guests".

When mengchang was sent to the state of Qin, he was slandered and framed. King Zhao of Qin imprisoned him and wanted to kill him. At the time of crisis, a disciple suggested to mengchangjun that he could ask for help from a beloved concubine of King Zhao.

Unexpectedly, the beloved Princess told mengchangjun that she wanted a white fox fur that mengchangjun had given to King Zhao. It's hard to defeat mengchang. When he had nothing to do, a former thief said that he could help mengchang get Baihu Qiu. So he did his best to steal the white fox fur to the beloved concubine. Beloved imperial concubine secretly sends someone to open the gate of the city and let Meng Changjun and others escape.

At Hangu pass, it was in the middle of the night, and the gate could not be opened until the rooster crowed. But time is short. By that time, King Zhao of Qin may have found that mengchang fled and will send troops to chase him. Prince mengchang was so anxious that he was afraid of the coming of the pursuers, but he had no way to open the gate.

At this time, another porter came forward. He said that he was good at learning to crow, which could give the soldiers the illusion to open the gate. Sure enough, after the man learned to crow a few times, the guard of Hangu pass mistakenly thought it was nearly dawn and opened the gate.

As a result, mengchangjun successfully escaped from Hanguguan and returned to the state of Qi.

The reason why mengchangjun could escape from the prison and survive was not because of some counsellors or generals, but because of the so-called "Rooster crowing and dog stealing". From this story, we can get such a truth: no matter what kind of people, there are specific values and advantages. Therefore, we should communicate with all kinds of people, and fully discover and give play to each person's special value, so that different interpersonal relationships can bring benefits to ourselves.
