Shuzhugang, Guangzhou

Famous places of interest. It is located in Wufeng village, Xingang Road, South Bank of Pearl River. During the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty, Li Mingche, a Taoist, saw that this post was "surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the pines and stones were strange", so he named it shuzhugang. On the post, there was the Chunyang temple built by Li, which was founded in the sixth year of Daoguang (1826), and got its name from the worship of Chunyang. It is built close to the mountain with strict layout, simple and elegant. After the observation, there is the Chaodou platform, which is built with granite. It was built by Li Mingche in his later years to observe the sky. It is the only ancient observatory in Guangzhou. In modern times, shuzhugang used to be a place for local poetry and wine. There are stone inscriptions with the word "Mei she". In front of the Chunyang temple on the left, the original Yangfu temple built by Ruan Yuan has disappeared.
