Lin Yutang Memorial

Lin Yutang memorial hall is located on the north side of 319 National Highway in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the banana forest on tiger shaped mountain where his parents sleep. It covers an area of 7 mu, overlooking the former residence of Lin Yutang in Zhangzhou, surrounded by banana forest on the back, and is quiet and elegant. The main body is a semi-circular two-story building, which uses the architectural style of Lin Yutang's former residence in Taipei for reference, reflecting Mr. Lin Yutang's idea of combining Chinese and western. On the front wall of the museum, the six characters of "Lin Yutang Memorial" inscribed by Shen Peng, chairman of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, are glittering. In front of the museum, a 2-meter-high blue stone statue of Mr. Lin Yutang is placed, with a serene and lifelike look. There are 81 granite steps on the top of the memorial, which is a metaphor for Lin Yutang's 81 years of glorious life. Visitors will feel reverence when they climb the steps.

The first floor of the memorial hall is the activity room, and the second floor is the exhibition room. The layout is simple and the sense of space is strong. More than 100 precious photos, more than 100 books and some objects used by Lin Yutang are displayed in the museum.

brief introduction

The memorial is located in Wulisha village, Tianbao Town, Xiangcheng District, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, where Mr. Lin Yutang was born. It was completed and opened on October 8, 2001.

The first impression of Lin Yutang memorial hall is "sky blue, water blue, ten li banana fragrance". The road leading to the memorial hall is surrounded by banana trees, and a section of steps is ascended. The memorial hall is now in front of us. In front of the memorial hall, a statue of Mr. Lin Yutang, designed and made by the famous Chinese sculptor Professor Li Weisi, is placed. The main body of the memorial hall is a two-story ring building with antique front, but the ring structure is nearly westernized, just as the couplet at the door says "two feet on Eastern and Western culture". The museum displays more than 200 works of Lin Yutang in various versions, more than 100 photos of different periods, as well as Lin Yutang's handwriting and used articles. From architectural design, title writing to sculpture carving, the memorial hall is created by China's first-class experts. It shows a high artistic level and can be called "Hall of fame".
