Xiamen Overseas Chinese subtropical plant introduction Park was founded by patriotic overseas Chinese in 1959, and is subordinate to Xiamen science and Technology Bureau and Xiamen Overseas Chinese office. Its main tasks are: to introduce tropical and subtropical plant (crop) resources from abroad, to conduct rapid propagation of valuable materials by means of isolation, trial planting and domestication, and to popularize them to production departments, so as to directly transform them into productive forces.

Xiamen Overseas Chinese subtropical plant introduction park is located on the beautiful Gulangyu Island, with an area of 89000 square meters. It is adjacent to the sun rock in the East, Gulang villa in the West and meihua beach in the south. It is a wonderful place for plant sightseeing, tourism and leisure.

Its main tasks are: to introduce tropical and subtropical plant (crop) resources from abroad, to conduct rapid propagation of valuable materials by means of isolation, trial planting and domestication, and to popularize them to production departments, so as to directly transform them into productive forces. In addition, it also undertakes the isolation and quarantine tasks assigned by the plant quarantine functional department. There are offices, plant introduction and domestication laboratory, plant quarantine laboratory and Biotechnology Center in the park. The State Planning Commission has established the "national isolation and quarantine base for foreign crop introduction" here. This base is one of the only two sites in the south of China. There are 5 senior professional and technical personnel and 5 intermediate professional and technical personnel in our park. We have plant tissue culture laboratory, isolation and quarantine greenhouse, pest control temperature, net room, shade and soilless cultivation facilities. We are equipped with ULTRACENTRIFUGES, high-speed freezing centrifuges, system microscopes, inverted microscopes, ultra-low temperature refrigerators, PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, UV spectrophotometer and other equipment. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, more than 1000 plant germplasm resources have been introduced from more than ten countries and regions in five continents, and more than 100 kinds of plant germplasm resources have been applied and promoted, including food crops, vegetables, fruits, flowers, trees, medicinal materials and spices. The rice variety "Keqing No.3", introduced by our garden in the 1960s, has been widely planted in 13 provinces (cities) in southern China for tens of millions of mu, It has been awarded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and relevant government departments; it is the first to introduce a large number of fragrant drink plants such as vanilla, passion fruit and peeled pineapple, and a variety of indoor and outdoor ornamental plants such as Palmaceae, araucaceae, Agave, Araceae, caraganaceae and pineappleaceae in China. "Introduction and cultivation experiment of Taiwan hybrid Passiflora edulis" won the second prize of Xiamen science and technology progress; "research and development of export flowers and subtropical plants" won the third prize of Xiamen science and technology progress, "Research and application of plant (seedling) virus isolation, inspection and Quarantine Technology" won the third prize of Xiamen science and technology progress in 1997; "comparative study on characteristics of cucumber mosaic virus strains harming tropical plants" won the second prize of Fujian science and technology progress in 2000. He wrote and published "Introduction and domestication" and "ornamental palm" and other monographs. Since 1998, it has won the title of provincial civilized unit for two consecutive times.
