Yuyao Museum

Yuyao museum is located in the beautiful West foot of Longquan, covering an area of about 5 mu, with a total construction area of 1600 square meters. It was completed and opened on January 18, 2003. The completion of the museum adds a beautiful scenery to Yuyao, a famous historical and cultural city, and ends the history of Yuyao without a comprehensive local museum.

In September 2018, Yuyao museum was approved as a national second-class Museum by China Museum Association.

Exhibition hall display

Yuyao Museum has five exhibition halls, including three basic exhibition halls and two temporary exhibition halls. The three basic exhibition halls are arranged with the museum's basic display "Shang Xia 7000 years", which is composed of the preface hall, the ceramics hall and the bronze and jade miscellaneous hall. Nearly 300 pieces of representative cultural relics from the Neolithic Age of Hemudu to the Ming and Qing Dynasties are displayed. In an intuitive way, it shows people the long history and profound culture of Yuyao. Among them, the preface hall mainly uses charts, models, sculptures and other techniques to reflect the history and culture of Yuyao as a whole and generally. There are the sand table model of Yuyao in Qing Dynasty, the bronze statues of the four sages, and the handwriting of the sages.

Collection quality

Yuyao's long-standing and profound ceramic culture is displayed in the ceramic hall. From the Neolithic pottery with charcoal and sand in Hemudu, to the three dynasties' printed pottery and primitive porcelain, and to the Yue Kiln celadon from the Six Dynasties to the Five Dynasties and the Northern Song Dynasty, there are all high-quality exhibitions, including the bird shaped pottery of the Neolithic age There are many kinds of exquisite products, such as the fragrance of primitive porcelain in the Warring States period, celadon lizard chicken head pot in the Western Jin Dynasty, Yue Kiln secret color porcelain Capricorn pattern powder box, etc. In addition, the ceramic hall also displays a lot of porcelain products of the yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as Longquan kiln celadon cane washing in the Yuan Dynasty, Dehua kiln Fishing Fisherman porcelain sculpture in the Ming Dynasty, blue and white Gu in the Qing Dynasty, blue and white glazed red sky ball bottle, Ji blue bottle, multicolored figure hammer bottle, pastel plate, etc., showing the collection achievements of Yuyao cultural relics department for several generations. The bronze and jade miscellaneous hall displays a large number of miscellaneous works, such as stone tools, bronzes, bone, jade, gold and silver, bricks and tiles, seals, inkstones, etc., including stone Yue, bone dagger, ivory bird shaped dagger from the Neolithic era in Hemudu, bronze crossbow machine in the Eastern Han Dynasty, bronze mirror with four breasts and four gods in the Eastern Han Dynasty, bronze mirror with shuangfengrui in the Tang Dynasty, jade wall in the Warring States period, golden tiger in the Song Dynasty, and bronze mirror with four gods in the Ming Dynasty In the Qing Dynasty, there were gold plate and gold ear digging, year brick and goose shaped bronze seal of zodiac in the Western Jin Dynasty, and Duan Inkstone inscribed by Zhu YIZUN in the Qing Dynasty. Although most of these miscellaneous pieces are small in size, they are exquisite and elegant, condensing the crystallization of ancient Yuyao people's production, life and artistic wisdom, and have high historical and artistic value.

According to the requirements of the notice on free opening of national museums and memorials issued by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Hemudu Ruins Museum and Yuyao Museum in Yuyao City will be open free of charge from May 18.
