Silicified wood Dinosaur National Geopark is located in Qitai County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at the north foot of Tianshan Mountain and the southeast edge of Junggar basin. It covers an area of 492 square kilometers, including silicified wood scenic spot, Dinosaur Valley Scenic Spot, Yadan scenic spot in ghost city and Shiqiantan scenic spot.

Qitai silicified wood group is located in the center of Fuyun Qinghe jimusar Qitai Mulei Balikun Hami Yiwu silicified wood enrichment zone, which is rare in the world. The silicified wood group here is famous for its concentrated distribution, large quantity and scale, and complete preservation. Only in the area of 11.65 square kilometers of the park's silicified wood scenic spot, there are nearly 1000 trees exposed, which is one of the most spectacular silicified wood producing areas in the world. Qitai silicified wood is produced in sandstone and mudstone of Jurassic SHISHUGOU group about 150 million years ago. The primary structure of the trees is well preserved. The diameter of the silicified wood is generally 0.5-1 m, the maximum is 2.8 m, the length is generally 5-20 m, and the maximum is 26 M. The different buried States, such as lodging and upright, reflect the dense forest landscape in the environment of rivers and lakes in the basin in ancient times.
