Former residence of Zhu Shenghao

Zhu Shenghao's former residence is located at 73 Hexing South Road, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, China (formerly No. 14 under the East mipeng of South Street, now belongs to the east part of Meiwan street historical block). It is the former residence of Zhu Shenghao, a modern Shakespearean drama translator and poet, in Jiaxing City. From August 2006 to February 2007, it was renovated by the city investment group and opened to the public in November 2007.

Zhu Shenghao, a native of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, is a translator and poet. A total of 31 and a half Shakespeare's plays have been translated.

His family is poor. Due to hard work and excellent results, he was recommended by the university to Hangzhou Zhijiang University for scholarship,

When he was a sophomore, he joined Zhijiang poetry club, and his talent was praised by his teachers and classmates.

In 1935, he signed a contract with the world book company to translate the complete works of Shakespeare's plays.

On August 13, 1937, when the Japanese attacked Shanghai, Zhu Shenghao escaped from his residence with only Oxford version of Shakespeare's complete works and some translations. He lost his job in early 1942.

Zhu Shenghao would rather be poor to death than serve the enemy and the puppets. He lived a very difficult life only by meager contributions.

In 1944, he left the world at the age of 32.
