Located in Shilin Town, Wansheng District, Chongqing, Longlin stone sea scenic area has a planning area of 4.7 square kilometers, 20 kilometers away from Wansheng city. It is a natural scenic spot of karst Geopark.

In October 2012, Longlin stone sea scenic spot and Heigu valley scenic spot were officially approved as national AAAAA (5a) scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration. It has become the fifth national 5A scenic spot in Chongqing and one of the "12 scenic spots in Bayu". It has been awarded the title of "top ten scenic spots in Chongqing" for two consecutive times.

Development history

Longlin stone sea scenic spot is located in Shilin Town, Wansheng District, Chongqing. Longlin stone sea was deposited in the marine environment during 465-600 million years ago, about 200 million years earlier than Lunan Stone Forest in Kunming, Yunnan. It is the oldest stone forest in China and the second largest stone forest in China. It is known as the "ancestor of stone forest".

Main attractions

The scenic spot integrates "mountain, water, forest, stone and cave" into a whole, and is dominated by karst landscape such as surface stone forest and underground karst cave. In the scenic area, there are many unique rocks, steep peaks, clear springs, clear pools, cliffs and waterfalls. There are many kinds of fossils, such as stone fan, stone drum, stone tower, stone bud, Jianfeng stone, mushroom stone and so on. The stone forest in the scenic area is surrounded by many peaks and various forms. Among the Wansheng stone forest, the most are the horned stones formed in the Cambrian. Most of the corner stones are yellowish brown, some exposed on the surface of the stone, some inlaid in the stone. These fossils are of great scientific value for the study of the geological evolution and marine biological evolution of the Yunnan Guizhou Plateau and the southeastern Sichuan Basin. Longlin Shihai was under the jurisdiction of Yelang kingdom in ancient times. There lived a group of Miao compatriots who were good at singing and dancing for generations. The splendid Miao customs endowed Shilin with strong national customs and tourism characteristics. In particular, the annual "trampling on mountains" is an important Miao festival held in Wansheng Shilin.

The typical karst landscape represented by stone forest is very attractive. The surface of this kind of landscape is tiger skin, forming a series of different viewing spots. The stone gate, stone stockade, stone pillar and so on are like artificial stacking, but there is no artificial trace; the stones of birds and animals are lifelike and lifelike; the countryside, the cooking smoke, the clear spring, the clear pool, the cliff and the snow waterfall, the white crane, the green Luan and the birds in the blue sky are beautiful. The main landscapes are Qinglang peak, Xianglu mountain, giant fan, ground crack, fossil, stone drum, general stone and so on.

Longlin stone sea scenic area is not only full of grotesque rocks, but also full of underground karst caves. There are mainly two types of caves: horizontal and vertical. Horizontal caves include Tianmen cave, guojielou cave, Liangfeng cave, Xiannv cave, Guanma cave, Qianniu cave, Jiulong cave, Guanyin cave, etc. Among them, the landscape of shutianmen cave is unique and its shape is unique. The stalagmites, stone pillars, stone flowers, stone curtains, hanging, erecting, and clamping in the cave are of their own aspirations. They are as bright as jade and as brilliant as a palace. It can be said that "it's made in heaven and made in earth.".

The world peace stele forest, covering an area of 3000 square meters, greatly enriches the cultural connotation of the scenic spot. In addition, the local Miao people are good at singing and dancing, weddings and funerals, food and clothing, as well as the ancient tombs, folklore and animal fossils formed hundreds of millions of years ago, which constitute a unique folk customs and rich cultural landscape represented by Miao customs.

Longlin stone sea is the oldest stone forest in China. It is composed of Xianglu mountain, Liugong tomb, lovers stone, trampoline, shiguping, qiantacheng, Tianmen cave and other parts, with a total of 207 scenic spots. Among these scenic spots, the stone fan, stone turtle, stone tomb, stone gorge, fossil, stone drum, stone tower and sedan chair song are also known as the "eight wonders" of Wansheng stone forest.

Longlin stone sea was formed about 460 million years ago. At that time, this area was once a vast ocean and an ancient home for sea creatures. There are many kinds of fossils in longlingshihai. There are stone turtle, stone shell, stone snail, stone egg and so on. Most of them are hornstones formed in Cambrian. Most of them are yellowish brown, some are exposed on the surface of the stone, some are inlaid in the stone, the posture is myriad. Fossils are of great value for scientific investigation and appreciation in the study of the geological and marine evolution of the Yunnan Guizhou Plateau and the southeastern Sichuan Basin.
