Bengpu Temple (Benbo Temple)

Bengpu temple is the oldest temple in Daocheng, with a history of 900 years. Bengpu temple is 30 kilometers away from the county seat, with an altitude of 3940 meters. It is the temple of the Baijiao sect of Tibetan Buddhism, which is called the Gaju sect in Tibetan. The spread of Baijiao mainly relies on "oral inheritance". The master gives oral instruction to his disciples, who practice according to the master's instruction and do not rely too much on scriptures and books, so it is also known as "Tantrism". The cultivation of Tantrism is very difficult. Monks in Bengpu Temple need at least three years, three months and three days to practice. During the cultivation, they can't meet with outsiders, and their relatives can only get together once a year, and they have to talk with each other. After three years of practice, one has to pass the exam, and those who pass can jump on the cliff tens of meters high.

The founder of Bengpu temple is named gamaba dusongqinba. In the late Southern Song Dynasty, the three elder martial brothers of gamaba dusongqinba traveled to sangdui valley. They saw that the mountain is magnificent, the grassland is open, and the river is crisscross. It is a treasure land of geomantic omen. They decided to build temples here and promote Buddhism. Karmapa dusongqinba started to build a temple at the age of 60 and passed away at the age of 86. He lived in Bengpu temple and preached for the people around him. He was deeply loved by the people. Before his passing away, he asked the believers whether they wanted to leave their own bodies or statues. The believers thought that the bodies would rot and the statues could be preserved forever. They decided to have a statue, so he used it The reflection of the lake water makes a self sculpture. The self sculpture is eight years old and 80 years old. It has a history of more than 800 years. Believers treasure this statue of Buddha. When the temple was rebuilt in 1984, it was consecrated in Bengpu temple again.

In addition, the most precious in the temple are the master's handwriting and nose blood rock paintings.

Monks often use Zanba to feed the fish in the sangdui river. The fish seem to be human. Groups of fish gather together and let monks touch their back.
