San Agustin Church

The front wall of St. Austin hall is divided into two layers, with triangular mountain flowers on the top. Two ancient Greek granite pillars are separated on both sides of the gate. The main pillars inside divide the church into three roads and support its arched roof. The church as a whole is not in the form of gorgeous exaggeration, but in its simple and elegant style.

San Agustin Church

St. and sting church was built by the Italian Catholic Church and sting Church in 1586 when they came to Australia to preach. Three years later, it was owned by the Portuguese. It is one of the oldest churches in Macao and the first church in Macao to preach in English.

Founded in 1591 by the Spanish friars of the Austin order. The original building of the church was very simple, so the priests covered the roof with palm leaves to keep out the wind and rain. Whenever the wind came, the palm leaves would fly with the wind, and the Chinese looked at the scene from a distance and felt that it was like a dragon whisker standing up, so they called the church "dragon whisker Temple".

The church was rebuilt in 1825. It is magnificent in appearance and spacious in interior decoration. There is a statue of Jesus carrying the cross on the marble altar.

According to Frei Francisco Manrique, the founder of the church, the friars of the Austin Church in Spain built a church and a mother's chapel on the hilltop.

Folklore

There are many legends about St. Austen's church. It is said that when the statue is taken to the Episcopal Church by the person in charge of the church, it will magically return to the altar of St. Austen's church. Therefore, the statue is still in place.
