Daqindao township is located in the north of Changdao County, in the middle of the Bohai Strait, bordering the Bohai Sea in the East and the Yellow Sea in the West. It is 54 km away from Dalian City in Liaoning Province in the north and 52.84 km away from Penglai City in Shandong Province in the south. It is the farthest Township from the mainland in Shandong Province.

Dachin Island

Daqin island is located in the north of Changdao County, in the middle of the Bohai Strait, near the Bohai Sea in the West and the Yellow Sea in the East. It is 54 km away from Dalian City in Liaoning Province in the north and 52.84 km away from Penglai City in Shandong Province in the south. It is the farthest town from the mainland in Shandong Province. With a total area of 6.44 square kilometers and a coastline of 14.55 kilometers, the island governs four administrative villages, including Dongcun, Beicun, Nancun and Xiaohao, with a total population of 4580. As early as 6000-7000 years ago, human beings lived on the island. Four tombs and ancient buildings have been found at the Nanshan site in Dongcun and santiaogou site in Beicun since the Neolithic age. The Dongcun site is comparable to the Banpo site in Xi'an. More than a dozen ethnic groups with surnames migrated from Jiaodong in the middle of Kangxi and early Qianlong years, and the earliest immigrants came to the island nearly 300 years ago. Before the Republic of China, Daqin island was under the jurisdiction of Penglai County, Dengzhou Prefecture. After the founding of the people's Republic of China in 1949, Qindao township was set up, with jurisdiction over four villages (including xiaoqindao). In 1958, during the period of people's communization, it was transformed into Qindao people's commune, under the jurisdiction of five brigades. In 1984, when he went to shejian Township, xiaoqindao was separated from the township and established as the people's Government of daqindao Township, with four villages under its jurisdiction.

Island legend

It is said that once upon a time, a poor fisherman from the South was fishing in the Bohai Sea. When he met with wind and waves, he anchored in Daqin island for shelter. After going to the island, he found a strange phenomenon on Daqin Island: groups of scorpions hold eggs and roll into balls on the island, and there are scorpions all over the mountains and fields. He thought that there were no scorpions in his hometown in the South (it is said that there were no scorpions in the south in ancient times). When he had nothing to do, he caught some scorpions and took them home. However, when he arrived in the south, someone paid a high price for them. As a result, the fisherman had an idea. He simply abandoned fishing and became a businessman. Instead, he became a scorpion trafficker and made a fortune in less than a year. Therefore, Daqin island is often called scorpion island. Daqin Island mainly to seafood breeding, processing as the main economic source! Rich in kelp, rice, black fish, sea cucumber, abalone and so on, which kelp for Sheng, the island's large and small farms have more than 400!

The growth and reproduction of so many scorpions in Daqin island is closely related to the special natural environment of Daqin island. Here, the trees are luxuriant, the flowers and plants are clumped, the dead leaves are piled up, and the rocks are all over, which provides a very favorable condition for the survival and reproduction of scorpion. Due to the sparsely populated area of Daqin Island, the number of scorpions captured is still small, so the scorpions can reproduce in large numbers in Daqin island.

Scorpions like to live in groups, at least three or five groups, dozens or even hundreds of them gather in a suitable hiding place. If you look carefully in some weirs or stone mounds, you can sometimes find hundreds of scorpions of different sizes holding together to form a strange "scorpion ball".

On Daqin Island, mirages are often seen. At 4:00 p.m. on July 29th, 1984, in the west of Daqin Island, there appeared a series of mountains, slopes and valleys, which were covered with all kinds of high and low buildings, large and small. In particular, the tall chimneys were very eye-catching, and there was black smoke in the chimneys! There are also all kinds of vehicles shuttling through the streets. There are many black spots on the road, which are very like pedestrians on the street. The mirage lasted 40 minutes and gradually disappeared at 5:20. Just as the tourists are still enjoying themselves, another spectacular mirage appears on the sea. It is only 10 minutes away from the first time, that is, 5:30, which once again makes the tourists feast their eyes.

Characteristic industry

The sea area around Daqin Island township has smooth current, clear water quality and no pollution. It is suitable for the reproduction of fish, algae, shellfish and other marine treasures. It is rich in aquatic products resources. Daqin kelp, sea cucumber, abalone, sea urchin, dried rice and deep-water live fish enjoy a good reputation at home and abroad. With the development of modern fishery as the goal, daqindao township has increased investment and accelerated the adjustment of fishery structure, forming a three-dimensional and diversified production pattern, which is based on fishing, kelp culture, bottom sowing and raising of marine treasures, with raft culture of scallop and deep-water cage culture as the pillar industries, and with cold storage and deep processing of aquatic products.

Since 2013, the tourism industry of daqindao township has been growing. Yujiale industry is developing continuously, and the better representative is Fenghuang villa. Up to now, tourism and fishing tourism have become one of the characteristics of Daqin island.
