Zhenwu temple is usually dedicated to Zhenwu emperor. Emperor Zhenwu, formerly known as Xuanwu emperor, was revered by Emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty as a taboo Saint Zhao xuanlang, so he changed Xuanwu to Zhenwu. In the reign of Dazhong Xiangfu, he was honored as "Zhentian Wuling yingyou shengdijun", or Zhenwu Dijun for short. Its sacrificial statues are hair, black clothes, sword, tortoise and snake, and the follower holds the black flag. Legend has it that Xuanwu is the great God of the north, worshiping Xuanwu to defend against fire. Taoism takes Qinglong, Baihu, Zhuque and Xuanwu as its guardians, and takes them as its powerful and dignified.
