Yaoqiao Castle

Yaoqiao castle is located in the opposite of yunxiugu natural scenic spot, yaoqiaoyu village, Xinchengzi Town, Miyun County, Beijing. It is the only well preserved Ming Dynasty Castle around Beijing. Now there are descendants of the soldiers stationed at the border in the old castle. At present, there are 60 villagers, most of whom are folk tourism reception households. It is also a characteristic folk village of Yaoqiao castle.

Yaoqiaoyu village has a long history, 130 kilometers away from Beijing and 50 kilometers away from Miyun. It is located in the east of Xinchengzi Township, Miyun County. It is close to mountains in the north and andamu River in the south. In the early winter and spring, it was necessary to build a bridge here. Because of the instability of the bridge, it was named "Yaoqiao", which was later called "Yaoqiao". Yaoqiaoyu folk village is the earliest village in Beijing to carry out folk tourism reception, which has played a leading and promoting role in the development of folk custom in Beijing.

There is a castle built in Ming Dynasty to defend the border, called "Yaoqiao Castle". There are two gates called "city". There is only one gate, so it is called "Castle". In the south, there are towers at the center gate and watchtowers at the four corners. Now the turret no longer exists, but the whole tower is very well preserved. Yaoqiao castle was built in the 26th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty. The city is 123 meters long from east to west, 102 meters wide from north to south, 7 meters high and 4 meters wide at the top. Yaoqiao castle is carefully designed with complete facilities, and its geographical location is suitable for strategic requirements. It takes yunxiugu goat house as its ear and eye, and echoes the enemy tower of the Great Wall from Simatai to caojia road. When the Great Wall met the enemy, the sentries on duty on the floor of goat essence immediately lit up the smoke and sent the alarm signal on the Great Wall to the city. The city immediately gathered troops to reinforce the Great Wall west of caojia road. Usually, due to the hidden terrain, even the enemy's spies could hardly find it. Therefore, it had very important strategic value at that time. There is a gate in the middle of the south. The children of Ming Dynasty soldiers guarding the border still live in the castle!
