Nanhu Square

Nanhu square is a comprehensive urban square integrating culture and leisure, green tourism and public leisure. It is 260-310 meters wide from east to west and 460-520 meters long from north to south, with a total land area of 160000 square meters. From the south end of Nanhu avenue to the North Bank of maizigang, Nanhu is divided into six functional areas: Cultural gathering, theme sculpture, music fountain, shady leisure, hydrophilic platform and Eastern greening.

In order to make Nanhu square a first-class comprehensive square in China, the overall plan of the square construction took one year to be determined. After bidding by many first-class design units in China, eight drafts were changed and finally designed by China urban planning and Design Institute. In order to ensure the high standard and high grade of Nanhu square construction, the project was completed before the Spring Festival in 2002.

Introduction to Nanhu

South Lake covers an area of 1200 hectares. The lake is rippling all year round, quiet and elegant, with many bays and tortuous harbors. With the landform of "one dragon driving nine turtles", it is now listed as the provincial natural scenery reserve and the International Dragon Boat race.

There are many bays and branches in the South Lake. The harbor is winding and deep. The lake water is clear and clean. Small islands stand in the lake and the lake bank is undulating. There is a mountain on the south bank, which is called Longshan. Every year, the International Dragon Boat Festival of Miluo River in Yueyang is held here. Visitors can enjoy the boundless wind and moon by boating on the lake. There are all kinds of pleasure boats in the lake.

The scenery of Nanhu Lake is extremely beautiful, with Dongting in the west, Ganshan, Guishan in the south, jineshan and baiheshan in the north. The lake is crisscross with water and overlaps between the peaks. The waves reflect the scenery of the peaks and are full of interest. Fish is produced in the lake and tea is produced by the bank. Fish is delicious and tea is fragrant. Therefore, since ancient times, Nanhu has become the best place for literati to go boating, drink fish, drink tea and recite poems. When Zhang Yue was demoted to Yuezhou in Tang Dynasty, many scholars were often called to sing in the lake. Li Bai, a poet, seems to have a special interest in Nanhu. He chants that "Nanhu is smokeless in autumn and night, and can endure the flow to heaven." "And on the Dongting credit moonlight, the ship to buy wine Baiyunbian" is simply a living painting. And its "water idle mirror turn, cloud around the painting screen move" is a direct way to praise the South Lake.

"One dragon drives nine turtles" refers to the combination of Longshan and Guishan. On the South Bank of Nanhu Lake, there are nine independent Islands (namely Guishan) in front of Longshan. The scene is like a dragon chasing nine turtles, so it is named "one dragon chasing nine turtles". In addition, there is a landscape of "nine turtles driving one toad", which is the same as the cause of "one dragon driving nine turtles". Toad mountain is located at the exit of South Hunan. It looks like a toad squatting, followed by nine small islands of turtle mountain. When we come together to look at the canal, we can see nine turtles chasing one toad.

At the end of Nanhu Avenue, a vast Nanhu square was built. The square has beautiful greening, orderly arrangement of lawn, tree wall and flowers, and harmonious colors. There is a large color music fountain in the center. South of the square is the South Lake, near the water and mountains, beautiful scenery. Yueyang museum is located on the East Bank of South Lake. Nanhu square and Nanhu Park are connected into a whole, wide and distant, water and sky connected, mountain shadow bridge, flowers and trees, beautiful scenery, it is really a tourist and leisure resort.
