The former site of Jilin machinery bureau is located at No. 11, Songjiang East Road, dongjuzi street, Changyi District, Jilin City.

The former site of Jilin Machinery Bureau was built on June 18, 1881 by Wu Dacheng, Minister of imperial envoy and assistant of border affairs, to supply weapons and ammunition for Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, strengthen border defense, and deal with the invasion of tsarist Russia. It covers an area of 197000 square meters.

On October 7, 2019, the former site of Jilin Machinery Bureau was selected into the list of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Architectural pattern

The former site of Jilin Machinery Bureau was built on June 18, 1881 by Wu Dacheng, Minister of imperial envoy and assistant of border affairs, to supply weapons and ammunition for Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, strengthen border defense, and deal with the invasion of tsarist Russia. It covers an area of 197000 square meters. It mainly produces lifting guns, riding guns, detonators, horse blunderbuss, bullets, flowering guns, mines, and gersarin guns. In the later stage, it also produces rifles, two person lifting guns, 25 ton motor boats, and artillery trucks. "Biaozheng academy", located in the east of the Bureau, is a place specially set up by the machinery bureau to train manufacturing and surveying professionals. In September 1900, the tsarist Russia occupied Jilin City. The production equipment of Jilin Machinery Bureau was either robbed or thrown into the river, and the Jiangnan powder Bureau was also destroyed. Jilin Machinery Bureau became the barracks of the Russian invading army. Today, the earth wall of Jilin Machinery Bureau no longer exists, and the original buildings have been demolished. Only the ammunition warehouse built by Zhang Zuoxiang, the governor of Jilin Province in 1928, still exists (now the Fifth Workshop of Jiangbei Machinery Factory). However, its historical achievements as the first modern ammunition industry in Northeast China will be recorded in history forever.
