Pan Tianshou Memorial Hall

The couplet in the study "Jie is the supreme Bodhi, Buddha is all the wisdom lamp" is a gift from master Hongyi Li Shutong. The side room displays works, works, etc. It is the place where most of Pan Tianshou's works are preserved in China.

Pan Tianshou memorial hall is located at No. 1, Jingyun village, Nanshan Road, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The former residence of Pan Tianshou is a two-story blue brick building. The main hall is the painter's living studio and study, displaying the living things.

The couplet in the study "Jie is the supreme Bodhi, Buddha is all the wisdom lamp" is a gift from master Hongyi Li Shutong. The side room displays works, works, etc. It is the place where most of Pan Tianshou's works are preserved in China. On November 24, 2018, it was selected into the list of the third batch of "20th century architectural heritage projects" in China.

Commemorative figures

Pan Tianshou (1898-1971), a modern painter and art educator, is good at freehand brushwork of flowers and birds and mountains and waters. He combines poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing, forming a unique style.

Venue layout

Pan Tianshou memorial hall is located at No.1, Jingyun village, Nanshan Road, Hangzhou. It was originally the residence of Mr. Pan in his old age. In 1981, it was approved by the Ministry of culture to set up the memorial hall and opened to the public. In 1991, it was expanded to a new modern one on the basis of the original residence. On May 16, 1995, President Jiang Zemin inspected the museum. He spoke highly of Pan Tianshou's artistic achievements and praised "this small memorial is very well run!"

Pan Tianshou memorial hall is a group of blue brick buildings with simple and heavy appearance. It has both traditional characteristics and distinct modern sense. The wall on the left side of the gate is inlaid with six 1-meter-square black granite, on which there is the golden character "Pan Tianshou Memorial" written by the famous calligrapher Sha Menghai.

There are two buildings in the hospital. One is Pan Tianshou's former residence, which is an old blue brick building in the 1940s; the other is a newly built boutique Exhibition Building in the early 1990s. In order to unify the style, it also uses green bricks as the external wall and stands tall. The foyer and the salon use gray reflective glass curtain walls more than ten meters high. The six pointed roofs inside and outside the salon are scattered, which are in contrast with the flat roof of the exhibition hall, so that the simple appearance design takes on some modern flavor. The unique pool connects the indoor and outdoor, new and old buildings. The water surface is clear and round, the wind and lotus send fragrance, and fish play with lotus leaves. The environment of the whole museum has been carefully afforested, with holly and cypress planted everywhere, and Wisteria climbing all over the wall. In front of the building is a square lawn, and in the center stands a pure white marble, which looks like a monument or a stone. There is no word left on it. This is a stroke left by the designer for people to imagine, guess and aftertaste.

The south facing room on the ground floor of the former residence is Mr. Pan Tianshou's studio. There is a large painting table near the west window of the studio. All kinds of traditional painting tools are arranged in good order, including a large carved Duan inkstone and a brush commonly used by the master. The bookcase is full of literature, history, calligraphy and painting books, and the mahogany revolving chair makes people imagine that Mr. Pan was eager to learn.

The studio communicates with the living room and bedroom at the back, and the furniture is quite simple. In a small exhibition room, there are many photos and material materials of Mr. Wang's life and activities for visitors to look forward to and study. Among them is the certificate awarded by the Soviet Academy of Arts and Sciences to Mr. Pan Tianshou as an honorary academician in 1958. In the glass window, there are some cultural relics such as Mr. Chen's handwritten manuscripts, sketches and letters.

The exhibition building has more than 1000 square meters. When visitors enter the exhibition hall and gallery on the second floor, they feel that it is a palace of art. The exquisite and elegant floor type display cabinet adopts natural light on the roof and is automatically controlled by computer. This new type of facility is first used in China. The large display cabinet is more than five meters high, with 12 mm thick float transparent glass on the front connected to each other, and there is no aluminum pillar in the middle to block the view. Pan Tianshou's huge paintings are displayed in such an exhibition hall, which complement each other and have excellent viewing effect.

A curator from Paris said excitedly: "if Mr. Pan's works, together with this modern museum, move to Paris, the world will recognize Chinese painting again, and Paris will cause a sensation."
