Yellow River Museum (old museum)

The Yellow River Museum covers an area of nearly 7000 square meters, with 3000 square meters of existing buildings. The beige main building exhibition hall is of European architectural style. It was built in 1957. It is one of the landmark buildings with the characteristics of the times in Zhengzhou city. It is integrated with the Yellow River carp sculpture on the auxiliary square, and it reflects each other.

The Yellow River is the main line throughout the exhibition of the Yellow River Museum. Through more than 600 photos, rich historical documents and precious cultural relics specimens, light charts, water passing models, videos, touch screens, digital information maps and phantom imaging, it vividly shows the cradle of the Chinese nation - the natural situation of the Yellow River Basin, such as geography, landform and climate, the splendid Yellow River culture and the floods and droughts of the past dynasties Disaster, river disaster control, soil and water conservation, development and utilization of water resources, long-term planning of control and development, etc. Here, the audience can not only understand the natural situation, sediment characteristics, flood law and so on of the Yellow River, but also understand the ancient river control strategies and the deeds of famous river control masters in the past dynasties from the exhibition. Since 1949, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people in the river basin have comprehensively renovated the upper, middle and lower reaches of the river, and initially built a flood control system of "blocking the upper and discharging the lower, and separating the two sides of the river", ensuring the safety of the Yellow River for 50 years.

For more than 40 years, the Yellow River Museum has always put social benefits first and made outstanding contributions to the construction of socialist spiritual civilization. It has received millions of Chinese and foreign visitors, including Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De and other domestic and foreign political figures, famous scientists and social celebrities.
