Sanxian Temple

Sanxian temple was built in the Ming Dynasty (1517 A.D.). It was specially built by Mao Bo, governor of Henan Province in the Ming Dynasty, on the impression that Li Bai, Du Fu and Gao Shi, the great poets of the Tang Dynasty, had been drinking and writing poems together. There is a statue of three sages gathering in the main hall, which reflects the scene of three poets gathering on the ancient stage. In the third year of Tang Tianbao (774 AD), Li Bai, who was famous in Beijing, offended imperial concubine Yang Guifei and was dismissed from the position of Hanlin because he wrote a poem about poor Feiyan relying on new makeup. He went east to Luoyang and made friends with Du Fu. The two great poets have been friends for a long time. They hate to see each other. They wandered along the Yellow River together and enjoyed the beautiful mountains and rivers. In the early summer, they came to Kaifeng. In Kaifeng, they met Gao Shi, a poet who had no talent and wandered all over the world. These two groups of statues reflect the scene of three poets drinking and writing poems on the stage. Li Bai wrote Liang Yuan Yin on the ancient platform, Du Fu wrote Yi Huai, and Gao Shi wrote Gu Da Liang Xing.
