Da'amituo Temple

Da'amituo temple is located on the south slope of yanggeta village, Xiwang sub district office, Baqiao District, Xi'an, 12 kilometers away from the center of Xi'an. It is adjacent to Bailuyuan in the south, Bahe in the north, Qingfeng temple built in the Sui Dynasty in the west, and baling, the habitat of immortals after the death of Hanwen emperor in the East.

The da'amituo temple on the north slope of Bailuyuan, which is formed from bottom to top according to the tableland, covers an area of more than 300 mu. It is located in the mountain nest and looks like a seat. In summer, it has green mountains, lush vegetation, beautiful scenery, green hills and cypresses, quiet and elegant, birds, flowers, fresh and clean air. It can be called a treasure land of geomantic omen.

History follows

In the second year of kaihuang in the great Sui Dynasty, inspiration temple was built here; later it was changed into Guanyin temple and Qinglong temple. Now called da'amituo temple, it has a long history of 1425 years. "The scale of that year was the most magnificent." "the front and back halls, the abbot, the heavenly king, and the Jialan, were set up around the monks, and the second floor of the bell and drum were built to form the hall." "the painting was very strict, and it was resplendent and magnificent." "the pines and cypresses were luxuriant, and the gardens were exotic and beautiful vegetables." "Yan Ran, the prosperity of the jungle." But later, because of "the soldiers burned the hall, the porch and the couplets collapsed."

About the current Abbot

Monk Shangyuan Xiahui was born on August 28, 1919 in Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province. At the age of 15, he was a virgin monk. At the age of 17, he went to the Buddhist College at Daxingshan temple in Xi'an. From 28 to 30, he went to the Buddhist College in Hangzhou. He once served as director of Nanjing fazhuang book company, President of fazhuang society, deputy to Hanzhong people's Congress and member of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, President of Taiyuan Buddhist Association in Shanxi Province, honorary president of Hanzhong Buddhist Association in Shaanxi Province, and honorary president of Shangluo Buddhist Association. He is now the abbot of da'amituo temple in Baqiao District of Xi'an city and the abbot of LIFO temple in Boluo County of Guangdong Province.

The old monk once practiced Zen, Buddhism, Tiantai Sect and Pure Land Sect. When he was 30 years old, he summed up his practice experience and proposed the combination of Zen, Buddhism and Pure Land Sect. He has been a monk for more than 70 years. He strictly abides by precepts, adheres to religion, and is cautious in words and deeds. He asked the converted disciples to recite Buddhism honestly, take precepts as teachers, firmly believe in cause and effect, and achieve success.

Restoration work

In 2006, the arduous construction and restoration work began, and now it has taken on a new look. From a distance, the temple has been wrapped in lush, green willows and fragrant magnolias. The temple looms in the mountains.

As a thousand year old temple, da'amituo temple is unique in the layout of temples in Xi'an. (da'amituo Temple belongs to two monks' temples, with nuns under the tableland and great monks on the tableland.

On February 19, 2006, old monk Shangyuan Xiahui came to the abbot of da'amituo temple to build the temple. He issued the call of "ten ways to build the Buddha's home". He personally formulated the temple construction plan and organized the four monks to start the arduous work of building the temple. After two years of efforts, with the blessing of the Buddha's share, he built the Guanyin Hall (five rooms), the chanting Hall (which can accommodate thousands of people) Sanxue building (more than 200 monks and laymen can live in), Wanfo building, with four spring water release pools.

Great wealth

Since the second year of kaihuang in the great Sui Dynasty. Although it has a long history of 1425 years. However, what remains unchanged and gives us strength is the great wealth left by the great wishes and deeds of the Buddhists of the past dynasties, such as chanting sutras, building temples, carrying forward Buddhism, and continuing the wisdom of the Buddha.

No matter the past inspirational temple, Guanyin temple, Qinglong temple or today's da'amituo temple, although the wind and rain have changed for thousands of years, the wish of the Buddha is the same, so that more people can chant Buddha, repay Buddha's kindness, change their destiny, and create a harmonious heart and interpersonal environment for individuals, families and society. As the inscription says, "people are good and the country is safe.". Countless people have changed their fate by chanting Buddha and doing good deeds.
