Zhongzheng Palace
Zhongzheng palace is located in Guanyinqiao scenic area in Xingzi County, Southeast of Lushan Mountain. It was the site of qinzhilou, the main building of Kuangshan thatched cottage built by Qing Dynasty poet Yi Fu. -In 1934, in order to flatter Chiang Kai Shek, Xiong Shihui, chairman of Jiangxi provincial government, built a palace on the former site of Kuangshan thatched cottage at Guanyinqiao for Chiang Kai Shek to live in when he came to Lushan. Chiang Kai Shek liked the beautiful scenery of Guanyin bridge very much, and he also liked to live here during his stay in Lushan Mountain. It was another palace besides Guling Meilu villa in Lushan Mountain. According to reports, after the Xi'an Incident in 1936, Chiang Kai Shek came to Zhongzheng palace to recuperate from his foot injury. In December 1937, the Japanese invaders attacked Nanjing, and Chiang Kai Shek came here again after setting up his defense in Nanjing. At that time, Chiang Kai Shek stood at the head of Guanyin bridge and said with infinite emotion: "the scenery remains the same, the situation has changed greatly." And here he sent out the order of Nanjing retreat by radio, and then there happened the Nanjing Massacre which shocked China and foreign countries
