Li Meishu Memorial

Li Meishu Memorial

Li Meishu memorial hall was founded in 1990. It was originally named Li Meishu kunjie Memorial Hall of Doctor Liu Qinggang. It was established after Li Meishu's descendants sorted out and filed Li Haishu's handicrafts, utensils, certificates, works and paintings. It is located in Minsheng street, Sanxia town. It was moved to the current site in 1995.

Li Mei Shu graduated from Tokyo fine arts school in 1934, and his painting style was deeply influenced by Okada. Okada is an advocate of "Japanization" of Western European customs. After Li returned to Taiwan, he devoted himself to describing the local conditions and customs of his hometown. Among all the works, "the daughter of a nap" is particularly prominent. This is from the native place to think about the ancient (Japanese, Western) love. Li handled such a far-reaching space with the same tone and brushwork, but he didn't feel obstructed. In terms of the composition of the picture, he was able to say that he was all inclusive. His brushwork was steady and restrained, and his color sense was rich (the contrast of red and green complementary colors). The whole painting was full and full, soft and quiet. In terms of technique and style, it was really a representative work of Taiwan Art at that time. It's no wonder that he won the "governor of Taiwan Award" at the 9th Taiwan exhibition.

After entering the quiet and elegant memorial hall, it is easy to see Li Meishu's artistic talent from his childhood works. Then he participated in Taiwan exhibition, entered Tokyo Art School, and won the imperial exhibition We can see clearly how Li Hai Shu learned from the west, then faced his native land and created his unique Taiwan style. His life is the epitome of the localization of Taiwan's fine arts, which deserves our careful observation.
